It's in a can at Amamake II. Once you go there and wait for 3 minutes at all stargates, you will get your avatar on the forum. Really, check it out.

Since this is going nowhere, it's a consistent issue that your avatar can lag behind for ages before showing up. Mine took almost a year. The only thing that can solve it is patience.

Yeah, but it would help if other forum denizens wouldn't accuse you of being a hidey-alt if you don't have a pic and/or choose not to display your corp and/or alliance.
It's understandable, but also annoying.

last client patch impaired the portrait rendering boxes from rendering out portraits. The problem has been identified a while ago and fixed, it's just a patch away. Other than that, the fairy tales about "you need to post for your portrait to show up" or "you need to be 18 years or older for your portrait to show up" are funny stories at best.

It's worth pointing out that the eve-online.com search function is pretty bad.
To get useful results, you need to use Google with a "site:eve-online.com" term in the search field, and most people won't figure that out until they've been here for a few months.

I updated my portrait about a year ago and it took one relog and cache-deletion to update in game and about 1-2 weeks to update on the forums. What sucked was that it didn't change on the killboard for like 6 months but i think that was more our kb-admins fault then CCP's fault...

Most searches I've ever done on these forums for anything have turned up threads from 2004 and earlier on the first pages. Maybe the forum search engine thinks that the stuff written by 2004 players is more qualified than the noob talk in more recent threads. And, who knows, maybe the forum is right...
"Sort by date" usually helps though...
