Or some other, obscure, way? Personally, I pronounce it "Hoe-Vi-An", but that's just me.

Personally I don't care how you pronounce it, them Jovies get on my nerves, hanging around in space stations with their pamphlets about the end of the world and what have you.
Why for two isk I'd blast them out of an airlock!!!

The phonetics are impossible to post on these forums because ASCII doesn't contain phonetic characters. But it basically works out as 'JO-vee-un' with the stress on the 'JO'.

from Old Latin "Jovis"; so perhaps "yo-wis" but certainly not "ho-vis" which as many people know is a type of bread, fairly tasty but hardly god-like.
"jovian" is an english word and hence subject to the shift of the latin consonantal "i" to the hard "j" which occured a few centuries ago. as for example, Ianuarius, pron. Yanuarius... January.
