Just something i was thinking of, a way to combat nano gangs. The ability to deploy statis bubbles, maybe only deployable like warp distruption bubbles, but with a smaller radius. Ofcourse it would have to be that you cant throw down both a statis bubble and a warp distrupting bubble, including from interdicters. Make the radius something like 15km, maybe a little larger.
Perhaps make it that interdictors can drop them aswell but they have to choose between one type or the other..
Just a thought.

Yes, let's make some *more* impenetrable gatecamps. Just NO.
Bubbles are one of the reasons MWDs are mandatory and why nano-fits are so popular anyway. Basically, uh, no?

Uuuh yeahhe already says "ofcourse you can't drop both at the same time" wich is the critical part in this post, I'd even make it so bubbles can't be dropped within 50km of each other at least (from the center, so larger bubbles could be placed closer to each other than smaller ones).
It's a nice idea but I do see problems in balancing here and unexpected uses... but thew only way to find these out is by trying them, put them on the test server, I'm sure some scripting for this is easily done seeing how interdictor bubbles already exist and work great.
Nothing on the test server should be definite to get into the game so if the bubbles sorta don't work out just ditch em again.

Edited by: Sotha Sila on 08/01/2008 10:49:34 yeah well thats what i mean, it has to be balanced very well for it to work effectively, too far one way or the other and its unfair or useless. Its a matter of finding a webifier rate that makes it so it only affects ships using modules to increase speed or perhaps only take off 50% of speed, and its radius of the bubble has to be precise. Because its easier to warp scramble people it has to be done in a way that makes it that its still possible to escape it even if there is a small gate camp there, meaning speed reduction has to be fine tuned to give ships a fair enough chance.
most importantly the point is the bubbles cant be stacked or you cant throw on warp distrupting bubbles ect..

The essential problem with "more bubbles" is very predictable. Either...
- They stack, and you get stupid uber fortified positions.
- They don't stack, and you get people dropping one kind of bubble in advance to protect themselves from another type.
- They supercede previous bubbles, and then you get people using them to cancel bubbles they don't want to deal with. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

With the stipulation that these things cant be anchored or launched anywhere near a warp scram bubble, I like this.
