You KNOW you want to put a .50cal round into the head of a deer...you just know it, don't even try to deny it, also, if anyone ever did try to burgle your ranch or the zombies did attack, Personally, I think that might just be more scary and hell a little more effective than the AK at taking the heads off those zombies in rows of up to 15 per shot....but then again I work off the principle that if its big, has weaver rail mounts and has has a magazine that wide...its probably more fun xD ---

If you're paying $7 for .50 ammo then you are pretty much bending over for the seller. Even before the war you could find surplus ammo for $2 each. You aren't going to get great accuracy with the stuff but then if you wanted accuracy you'd be handloading each round. Check cheaperthandirt.com which has tons of surplus ammo.
The Jackal weapon was pretty much an M2. Most big caliber movie guns are an M2 with toys covering up its old look. Its still a .50 caliber.
Oh and the .50 caliber is the most well known since everyone and their mom's military are using it (and the M2 consequently) although for large bore dedicated rifles, the Swedes have been putting out some great ones. Weird calibers though like the .473 pure brass rounds or .518 which like to fire sabots but excellent ballistic coefficients.

That looks potent. Especially with the WC component. It's like a GAU-8 round for a rifle. Awesome. Do we see that in any NATO rounds?
For the record, a spent .50BMG cartridge paired with a cheap set of tweezers makes an excellent, practical, and conversation-worthy roach clip. I've given them away as Christmas presents in the past. ----- TANSTAAFL

no, because anything bigger than a .50cal is pretty much non-personal ammo. Since NATO had more worries about the Genebra convention than the russians, the russians didn't mind to adapt a bullet that was used in motorized heavy machine guns to rifle setups.

Personally, I'd rather not. But that's just me. If you, however, happen to hit a deer with one, I'd be happy to chef up the remains for all and sundry. Good eatin!
Speaking of which, I believe this forum is ready for one of my patented cooking threads. \o/, as I think the kids say nowadays.
