I am absolutely no expert in mining but how much isk/ hour would i be able to get when mining with a hulk in say a 0.5 system. I am going todo this besides my main so its mostly mindless afk mining for some extra isk. Take max skills into account.

Well everything is relative, but from 8,5 to 12,5mill pr hour with full skills where lowest is Pyroxeres and highest is kernite.
But again this is without hauling and non stop mining of the ore, which isnt east with Kernite.
i Have build a sheet to show you just that Mining calculator, atleast it will show you what is best to mine with todays prices.

Veldspar is actually your best isk/hour rock right now. Approx 9m/hour if you have a hauler.

What about mining ice?
Sure you will do less isk but with an hulk with cargo expanders and cargo rigs no need for an hauler, no need to switch targets.
Just dock and undock 2 or 3 times an hour.

Thanks for the replies guys, but say you average 10mil/ hour then its not realy worth pursuing. It would cost you more then 50 hours to break even for a decent hulk + fitting.

It's going to take a good number of hours to break even in empire, but the trade off is you don't have to worry about losing the ship as much as going to low security or 0.0 space.
Ice mining is better done in a mack (to the poster above) unless you are doing solo mining, then a hulk with cargo expanders that warps back and forth as they fill the hold may make more (if you're worried about jet can mining, the cargo expander equipped hulks are nice... even more so when you add cargo rigs but best for high sec space)

one prob with mining kernite in a .5 is most of them places are mined fairly regularly so most times when you try and mine you don't get very far before the roid pops.

I have harvested ice in a shuttle and a badger and made 25M in one half hour.
I average 30-40 mil an hour in a Buzzard. That doesn't include a typical 10 million ransom also :o)
But if you really like mining, for what it's worth, you can make about 7.8 million/hr mining in one mack (15 cycles per hour at 4 ice per cycle) selling raw ice solo (best price out there now is about 130k ea). A hulk with ice would be somewhat slower ~5 mil/hr maybe? (plus in a hulk you wouldn't need an industrial alt)
