I agree 100% and the actors he's chosen seem great new-comers. TJ Miller is a hillarious guy, first heard him on redbarradio.com and earlier this TV season he was in Carpoolers (funny but failed unfortunately). There's not a single piece of evidence in there, he's just spinning it so it looks like it could be a power rangers movie. Now, look at the water in front of that and you can see that the monster must of entered the city from the sea because of the trail/wake in the water. This only strengthens the theory that the monster is or similar to the concept art found on the net in my opinion. -----------------------------------------

Though cloverfield has the potential to be seriously over hyped thus killing its success simply because viral marketing isn't as clean as more traditional marketing campaigns where the marketing companies can tone things down when the hype gets out of hand the key to viral marketing is providing the right amount of info previous attempts have often offered too much info leading to excessive hype, in cloverfields case I think the tight restriction on info even after the release is causing hype that's both good and potentially dangerous to the movie. After all whats the biggest question ratting around the movie goers mind both before and after the movie what the heck is the monster. There's clues there but anyone with an imagination can turn them into a variety of possibles. Also not defining the monster (at least to the public audience) means that there is massive potential for a sequel or even full development of a franchise based around this concept. Though one thing I find intriguing is that Hasbro won't apparently be shipping figures of the monster until sept 30th, why then when most of the potential marketing hype will have dropped off relying mostly on pre-orders. ------------------------------------------ Sig removed as it lacks EVE-related content. Besides that there were some great lines from Hud, he's the comic relief. Beth - "What was that!" Hud - "Oh you know, same old thing, monster in the stairwell." 8) Lilly - "What kind of thing was that!" Hud - "A BAD THING!" The monster is completely original with a hint of Half Life 2 thrown in. Accompanied by exploading annoying women and you get a great flick, enjoy it everyone.

MalVortex	Posted - 2008.01.28 05:56:00 - [71] I saw it and was pleasently surprised. The film is not your typical action/horror/monster film, and feels almost indy at parts. The camera jitter is not nearly as bad as many would have you believe, although I had to briefly close my eyes for a bit on some of the obnoxiouslly fast hand panning situations. There were two things that nearly killed it for me though: ** SPOILERS ** First, was the towers. If you've seen the film, you know what I'm talking about. Just... no. Towers don't "fall" like that, and nobody would do what they did. The entire "luls save the gf" thing felt very contrived. Second, was the JDAMing of the monster. Those pressure shockwaves would burst its cells at the molecular level - it doesn't matter how much armor you have, or how resilient you are, you die. You can somewhat write off the M1A2 sabbot rounds as just having massive over penetration with no real exit wound. ************ Overal, I was very impressed. I didn't expect much from the movie, but it really managed to surprise me.
