It's a trial. It doesn't help them in game. Duh.
If I was looking at EVE from the perspective of a complete noob who'd just downloaded the trial (or even bought the game for that matter) then I doubt very much I'd part with any cash. As 75% of the gameplay is based around timesinks, new players to EVE at this later stage may just not bother.
Good for you Deadflip2 for showing some initiative. It'd be nice if we could keep these new players. If they're not already put off by the retards and fanbois that haunt these forums (in fact, on that note, tell them under no circumstances look a the forums, they'll have a much better experience and impression of the community as a whole). |

Because they're already fans of the genre and they might just sign up? Because there may be a lot of them? Because they might not try the game for 10 minutes then compose a 500 word tirade on here because somebody blew up their ship?
I'll take one ex-EnB player over 10 complete noobs any day of the week. Hell, they might have chosen the wrong game initially but at least they've got half a clue when it comes to this type of game.

its great to see you got the same ideas as i got, i know how addicting eve is, and i know if eve ended itdd be really sucky to start all over again
on top of that i used to play EnB myself, and i was in beta so had a whipe all the time, drove me nuts --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. I forgot to ask her her phone number" - Nelix trist OMG im a pretzel!!! |

I think its very good of you deadflip to help them. i'm currently helping some old guild friends from enb when i played many months ago. It is a hard game to start of in, very complicated and anyhelp im sure will be much appreciated.
Maybe another idea to giving em a frigate could be skill packs.

I think it's awfully decent of you :)
The other day, when I sat there feeling quite noobish, a player named 'Kali Ma' donated me 70K or so so I could purchase an Imicus.. For regular players 70K is probably something like pocketmoney, but for me it felt real nice, to get such a headstart..
And as an EnB'er, I'll say this game is ofcourse a lot different, but not (yet) as intimidating as I had been let to believe.. I about expected to be blown up the moment I crossed the first stargate..

Chose wrong? It's not the gamers' faults that EA wasn't satisfied with a growing subscriber base larger than EVE's... Earth and Beyond WAS a fun game. I personally switched to EVE simply because I don't much care for camping and farming mobs (EQ style), but for the people who DO enjoy an EQ-style game EaB's probably better than EVE. It's an old-fashioned level-based MMORPG in space, and fans of old-fashioned level-based games liked it a lot! I personally don't see what's so great about "get better stuff to fight epic mobs to get even more stuff" and "kill mobs for credits all day long just to be able to brag about all my credits and L33T gear" (which is about all you can do after maxing out your levels in EaB), but the trip up TO max level is a lot of fun.
And considering EaB is non-PVP carebear heaven, a little assistance to players who jumped out of the kiddie pool into the shark tank might not be a bad idea... They aren't used to being able to DO something about it when someone barges into your hunting spot and steals all your loot or follows you around talking smack to you.
Come to think of it, with all the repressed rage from the constant kill stealing and ninja looting that defined high-end play in EaB, I forsee a sudden rise in the pirate population soon...

I remember back in the day when I first started and had $100,000 donated to me from a buddy. At the time I though that was the most money I will ever see, that was enough to get me some new skills, a fancy new Bantum, a couple Miner 1Ęs and Basic Cargo ExpanderĘsą.
I donate money like that to the new players in my corp nową and listen to them say WOW feeling the same way I did. Knowing that I can make that back in 5 to 10 minutes.

Thank you guys for helping out the EnB noobs coming into the game. I have played Eve for 3 days now and I already bought my Industrial ship the other day. The help you are offering new players is appreciated.
What I would like to see though, is some tips from the veterans. Which race is the best to pick...I picked the Caldari race (My Jenquai Explorer background I guess) but I noticed a discussion saying how much their ships suck..so I am a bit turned off the the race now.
Where do people hang out in game (Market channel in Enb)?
Which are the huge corporations in game?
Are there any rules that I should follow that will prevent me from being killed? Ex: If some one is mining and asteroid and I go and mine it as well..is that considered rude?
I have many more questions...also if you could point me to some resources it would be great.
Thanks

I think it's nice that you are helping people Deadflip, but how hard is it to make money in Eve? I mean really?
I have never played anything like it before, but by the end of my second day I was in an imicus, had purchased 500k in skills, and had 700k banked. Without help.
Pocket change in eve is beyond easy to get. Granted, I spent about 4 hours mining the first day, and 8 hours mining the second day to get that, but it wasn't hard.
I would say that the more important thing to help them do is to help them find a good corp. I was very lucky to find the one I'm with now. They laugh at me for being a noob of course, but then they explain things to me so I don't screw them up (again).
Everyone in my corp has been very patient, and happy to explain things and guide me. This is far more valuable to me than mere money, though they have helped me with that as well. Not only that, they are just a great bunch of guys.
I'm sure that there are more corps out there like mine, you just have to find the one thats right for you. When you do, you will find that Eve really opens up, and you will have a lot more fun.

It's not that hard, but it can still be hard for a newb.
Raising the first 70k for an Imicus seems to take forever. (Admittedly, when I started, imis ran 200-250k... Guess what I used my "rollback" gift for?)
I occasionally donate to new players myself. I once saw a bunch of first-timers banding together to mine - one of em' was hauling in a Velator. I sent em' all enough for an imi, and I gave one enough to buy industrial skill and an indy.
I've hardly played at all recently, otherwise I'd still give some people help. But I'm low on cash atm due to inactivity. :( ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

I joined the game because a friend fof mine had been playing since beta 6, and he got my interest in the gmae happening, it really helped being able to ask him questions etc (use to game at his house at the time before I got broadband at home).
For all you EnBers/noobs it's really important to get your learning skills up to lvl4 (well maybe not charisma) but get all 5 skills to lvl4 as soon as possible. Train in this order memory, inteliigence, learning to lvl x & repeat to x+1.
If there are any aussies reading this, drop me a line in game, were are always willing to take on other people who play at the same time of day as us :) |

In a way I agree, I'm an EnB noob myself, and though having someone give me my frigate would have been nice, I like that since of acomplishment I got by wokring to get it myself. Though so far Eve community seems to be a tad friendlier than EnB. Haven't had anyone scream Noob when asking questions.
Now I just need to work up to Cruiser skill and a Cruiser

Very kind of you Deadflip... For every bad experience with anti-E&Bers in EVE I hear at least one good experience, where EVE veterans welcome E&Bers. If I hadn't have had so much time already invested in E&B when EVE came out I probably would have been here from the beginning, and I daresay many E&Bers are in the same boat. We're not here to ruin your game, we're here to become a part of your community. ;) ---------------

There's two good reasons this is important:
First, it's a lot harder to start out in Eve than it used to be. You have to compete against people in BSs vacuuming up ore in the noob systems (my starter system is now completely devoid of ore), and in all other ways so much of the playerbase has a huge headstart on them.
Second, the so-called helpers don't seem to be doing their jobs. I've heard from a lot of EnBers who haven't been able to find any of the help that was promised in the ad, and they're fish out of water in the game. So any good samaritans will go a long way to keeping them in game, and the subscriber base rising.

Has anyone started a E&B help channel? Not a channel for recruiting by E&B corps but just a few people available to help out the n00bs.

The last MMOG i played was Earth and Beyond, but i left that sinking ship a long time ago.. It seemed pretty clear EA had no interest in keeping the game going, and it came as no suprise to me to hear they're now getting rid of it completely. So yea i'm a EnB refugee, but how am i gonna prove it?Guess i should have stuck around longer

Y A W N !!!
Count me in for a mill when I log in tomorrow.
(See we're really not bad - just misuderstood) As was stated in another thread on the board, this has nothing to do with E&B, or whatever, we didn't even know the corp was ex-E&B until the other thread appeared, most of the Celestial guys are having some war fun, check it out Here

In the middle of march EA announced it will be shutting down EnB in september.
And if the next question you might ask is what does that mean to eve. The gist of the line from polaris that i saw is: Eve is currently profitable and the plan is to run it 6 years.

I think EnB took one look at Eve and died of shame. RIP.

Im not sure really... i see yuor good will but i proapbly wouldnt like to be given money.I mean its agame, i loved the first weeks in my frigates...
I remmber when joined jumpgate for short i was having fun discovering things, learning, making first cash, and then an experienced player hailed me and spoiled much of my fun by giving me cash and stuff, things wich were more worth in game then 10 times all i earned by then.
I saw his godwill and frinedness but for me it was fun spoil, so i wouldnt do such a thing in Eve.

What a brilliant idea... No really, lets ignore those who have no idea whatsoever what Eve, or games in this genre is like, and lets give a bonus to those who have some experiance of this 'genre' as you put, just because, well, because you can. Great plan, no wonder so many ppl choose to leave Eve. This sort of stuff should be banned right now. CCP get a grip of this abuse.

i remember when i first started playing, oh nearly 5 months ago. going about my business, trying to get out of my noob frig, when Deadflip2 came along. at first i though he was going to shoot me, like what had just happend to me not 2 days before, but instead he asked if i needed a hand.
u helped me out and i apprieciate it, i dont think i would have stayed if i didnt get out of that damned isis.
