So my alliance has constellation sov now and with that + faction towers I have super low costs on fuel and other things. I produce a couple complex reactions for T2 ships and with soaring prices and falling costs Im making a KILLING. For example with sylramic fibers going for around 300 when I started my little POS plan i priced fibers at 200 and was still making what I thought was amazing isk. When you produce 12,000 per hour the difference between 200 and 300 per unit is insane.
So to my point, I dont mind making less isk as it isnt the only thing in this game that brings me fun. So I stroll into jita with a couple mil fibers and start playing the market game. I put up a sell order for 1 isk lower than the cheapest guy. And sure enough 3 min later hes undercut me by .01 isk. Most people get frusturated, i undercut him by another 2 isk or so. I play this game til Ive lowered prices by about 25-30 some times 40 or 50 isk per unit across the board. Because they keep undercutting me. At this point I just buy all their stock now that i got it way lower and go back up to the next cheapest person who wasnt online to undercut me and play the same game with them.
It sounds like I would end up buying more than I am selling but thats not the case all the while I undercut him every time he undercuts me so hes only the cheapest on the market for 5 or so seconds after he makes a market change, and cant do it again for another 3 min. All the while with me being cheapest on the market I am selling fibers.
So am I a bad person for this because I really got chewed up by people cussing me out in jita for it. Mostly because my costs are so much lower than theirs I can afford to take less isk for an item to drive prices down so that i may buy up more and sell higher. Just looking for some opinions on this.

Nope. Welcome to market PvP.
And no, you're not the first person to play this game with undercutters, I've seen this tactic described several times in old undercutting threads.

75% reduction in fuel costs is BRUTAL to other in the market who don't have it. When your dealing across 20+ towers all with that much fuel reduction its hard to see how so many people can remain in the business of complex reactions. Prices have skyrocketed lately lots of people are getting into the game of moon mining. I expect them to normalize soon though. That will weed out a lot of the people who cant keep up financially. I dont know what the finances would be if you were paying the full tower fuel costs but it cant be that great.

Works in any market related product, and its easier in most other area's I have been playing that game for months in other hubs and just started doing it in Jita with this guy. So much fun seeing ISK rise and i love it when you have scared all the competion away and get a few day making insane amounts of cash selling at 100% above market average.
But now the secrets out, it may prove more difficult.
Trade secret should remain trade secrets IMO

Imo, your doing your fellow traders a service by purchasing thier merchandise. If they don't want their merchandise sold at the price you buy them out for THEY SHOULDN'T KEEP LOWERING IT... Frankly, I'd rather be out doing something else, rather than constantly adjusting a sell order, I respond to undercutters buy dropping my price 10-20%, if they buy it up I'm happy as I will have already determined the profit at that price is acceptable.

As said. You just doing them a favor. You increase their cash flow while lowering your own.

Let me get out a microscope... so I can examine that tiny epeen of yours that you're trying to stroke.
As has been said, you're helping out everyone you buy out.
I don't believe you for a second that you actually get any hate mail or grief over buying people out. Perhaps people get mad that you are lowering the price... but who cares about that.
Come back when you've done something truly impressive. We get threads exactly like this every few weeks, or we used to anyhow... until people realized they were not special and everyone does this exact thing.

If your competitors wouldn't have wanted to sell for that price, they wouldn't have offered it. Nothing special.

Where do I sign up to have you buy all my stock at sell order prices?
Hell, I'll even give you a 1% discount if you'll save me the trouble of market fees and undercutting you.

You have to make some serious blunders for fuel costs to significantly affect your bottom line, so. I doubt you even know your ROI on your faction towers.

20+ faction towers : 5+++ bil vs regular towers, probably fuel savings : say, around half a bil per month compared to regular towers maintaining constellation sov compared to not bothering : 1+++ bil per month, extremely ballparkish figure income level : classified knowing how to calculate profit, savings and handle the market : priceless
As I do not have enough information either way (size of towers, income level, etc), this is all I CAN say. 1|2|3|4|5. |
