Does anyone know if there's any specific reason why salvage tables seem to be divided off by NPC race?
To pick a resource at random (yeah right!) - Alloyed Tritanium Bars only seem to be found in Angel and Gist shipwrecks, yet as far as I know Tritanium is a necessary ingredient in every single ship from the mightiest titan down to the most insignificant shuttle.
So....from a not-entirely-disinterested viewpoint (living as I do in Gurista NPC space, and being from an alliance famed for it's practising of nanof*ggotry) is there any particular reason why salvage materials derived from Tritanium - a material used to construct every single ship in the game should only be found in Angel and Gist shipwrecks? (or did all the other NPC factions find ways to build their ships without using Tritanium?!)
Incase you're not sure what I'm getting at - yes, I'd like for all NPC wrecks to have a shot of dropping the alloyed trit bars, based on the fact that the ships that they were flying were largely constructed from trit!

Edited by: Mark Amarr on 08/01/2008 23:10:57 Come on! you'll have to do a bit better than that!!
Tritanium is a raw mineral - are you suggesting that during the production process it is not made into anything? it just gets dumped as a blob of molten metal into the heart of the ship?
It is used in massive quantities - indeed it's description verifies that it is the "main building block in space structures".
The notion that tritanium would only be used to make structural bars on one particular race's ships is, frankly, ridiculous!
If I can't get these things from killing any race's NPCs, I want a better explanation than that as to why not!

Well, as I've already stated, I'll put my hands up and admit a selfish interest because the things are like gold dust, and you can't get 'em where I live.
However, whilst I can accept that racial differences in choices of modules and other fittings would affect loot tables regionally, I think it's a fair case to campaign for alloyed tritanium bars to be dropped in salvage across the board, because all ships are made using massive quantities of tritanium - it is the "main building block" for every ship you will see, and forming the main basis for every ship, I think it is fair to expect a chance of these items to be present in every wreck you come across.
So whilst I admit to having a selfish reason to push for it, I also feel that the argument I am making has a reasonable basis in logic, and simply saying "ah but only Angel NPC make trit into bars" does not seem like a well-founded logical reason not to have the bars dropping in salvage tables across the board.
Debate on!

It may help you to do the following exercise:
- Whenever you see the words "alloyed tritanium bar" imagine that it instead says "alloyed flubonium bar".
I think this will take care of the problem. If not...try some hot tea. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Quite simply there is no logical reason. It's a game mechanic and nothing more.
I always use the example of railguns: 150mm railgun needs 12MW, dual 150mm railgun needs 80MW. It's just a game mechanic that has no real logic.
