I have started digging in exploration recently, read all the guides, from both CCp and the community, Seen all the vids (Dnight owns), and tested everything with success.
One thing that I have noticed, that everyone else has noticed and probably complained about in the "exploration" comunity, is that we have no way of warping to a specifi X, Y and Z coordinatein a system, when you see these coordinates while making a Bookmark.
I think it would be a great bonus if CCP the DEV would intergrade that to the navigational system. It seem to already be in there, just not accessible to "players"
The reason for this request: It,s a pain to place a bookmark in the gap between two quest scanning bubble in mid warp. Especially due to GUI lag, and the fact that, the human hand, with regards to the mouse is not that precise.
thank you for reading

I agree. I've always wondered why you can warp to a specific location as long as you have a magical bookmark.

I don't think they want players to be able to warp to random points, or even x, y, and z cords, Simply because this would allow people to make Safe spots way outside the scan range of probes. I would love the ability to warp like this but don't see it happening.

true...
But everything in eve has limits, and contraints. Now, I'm not a game designer, I'm just a player, being affected by game mecanics. The DEV at CCP have good experience in that department, and will know what constraint to put on such feature

Edited by: Adunh Slavy on 09/01/2008 07:54:46 The solution could be two things together, one, limit how large a number can be used for any one of the axis, and a probe that can scan just a little further than that.
The maximum theoretical values appear to be 3.4E38 in any one direction. It would be bad to let players get to the "edge". The way computers work, if someone were to go to the edge, it may either crash the node or the player would magicly appear on the opposite side of the system, both of which would be bad.

agreed aside from that warp to the other side when limit is reached thing "Pac Man "
But again...I think CCP's approach of getting it out there so that player can use, see how it's beeing used, THEN nerf it, has kept this game alive and interesting for 5 years...so I'm pretty sure they could come out with something...
BTW...do they read these topics ?? because aside from the "amarr Boost" this idea seems to be practical

That could work, limit the numbers to something within 80 AU of stars and release a 90 AU recon probe.

They say they do, one of the great mysteries of our times.

actually warp systema and scanners are totally crap imo we should able to warp like mentioned here, have a better onboard scanner and have a extremely sofisticated scanner for scanning-ships (covert ops and recons)

Edited by: Jaded Hope on 10/01/2008 04:21:57 i agree. it would change tactics in battle quite a bit too. imagine warping into a huge battle. being able to have an outside force that the opposing side didn't know about and being able to warp directly behind them and catching them in a cross fire. the ultimate flank.

yes indeed..a great add-on for pvp...especially in space. and it would make it less dull in the sense that scout would have a harder time finding their intended target, and it woudn't be the usually...check all planet and belts for target. and instead of copying a BM, you'd juts have to give your coordinates to your fleet member or freind. (would make it a bit more realistic CCP)
and aslo, less stress on the server (I think) since fleet ingagement might take place in a spot that's far away from a gate or a station.

main problem would be people with external programs to map out solar systems and abuse it.
how about adding a warp trail detector module so you can activate and in 10s either you have a hit and can warp or no hit and oh well, better luck next time. -now that's an interdictor
