He probably got a Mac. They put this folding diagram in the box that shows you how to plug the mouse into the keyboard and the power plug into the wall. Mac users probably think this is how you "build" a computer. (Not that the blame is on Apple's users for dumbing down computer use.)

damn,you guys are ruff, yes i did just build my first comp, and the question was, when i download eve again, do i have to purchase a new account,or will there be an option to use mhy existing account. Ok fire away....

If you're bright, you'll have backed up your EVE folder from the old computer's MY DOCUMENTS folder.
Otherwise, you'll need to recreate a lot of the shortcuts and quickbar shortcuts.

After downloading the client you only need to input your user name and password; your existing account information will automatically generate.

2) Install said client
3) When you finish installing, open the game, then enter your existing account details in the pretty box.
4) I sincerely hope you had a friend help you build this computer

Well congrats on successfully building your first comp.
Here's the deal. The client you download is the same client used by either the 14-day trial peeps or those that already have an existing account. You DO NOT pay for a new installation of the game like you would with most other PC games you buy from retail. Instead, all you pay is that monthly fee which will allow you to access the game servers. All your account details and stuff are held in CCP's databases. There are no validation codes or product keys or registration stuff that you need to enter when you install a fresh copy of the client. That means you can install 20 different clients onto your system if you want, but you can only access the accounts that you have paid for.
So all you do is download a fresh copy of the game, install it, execute it, and enter in your account name and password. That's it, you're done.

hey guys I just got a new computer to.
do I have to get a new gmail account or can I still use the same one?
then again I think the issue here is most other MMORPG make the account be your computer and you have to jump loops.
however op I could go to your house and log in my account on your computer.
same with mine.

I'm not sure what's better. The Op's post, or the puzzled look he must have on his face with all the "I seriously doubt you built that computer" responses. Show your friend this post. I'm sure he'll give you the most accurate response you're going to get. Even if he doesn't play EVE, just make sure to tell him it's an MMO.

CCP keeps all yer important account and character info on the server... so yas can't tinker with things. You can run your account from any computer with EVE installed. Just need your account name and Password.
Just loose your personal settings to default is all.. which is fairly easy to fix since Warp to Zero came in and you don't need to organize 5K bookmarks back into folders ; ]
