Hi folks,
I've taken the time to write a blog post about why I evemailed people.
I realized that this was a calculated risk when I did it, but I thought it was an interesting maneuver. And you have to admit, it's added some drama to the elections.

So...A space man in a space game uses automated space communication to promote his space political platform and people space freak out and get space angry?
What an utter and complete waste of time and energy...only the people who choose to feel badly about it, feel badly about it.
MMOs seem to be a clearing house for persons not only vigilant for offense but ready to embrace said offense with the greatest enthusiasm and embrace it like an addict embraces the rock.
Spam emails are not new, in fact according this games timeline they are about, oh, 21,000+ years old.
He only sent them once of which I know.
Don't worry. Be happy!

Very interesting, indeed. If it was such a common occurrence that one player spammed tens of thousands of players, then there would be no fuzz over it.

I have received two campaign mails from Trebor.
That's hardly spamming.
Now, if someone received a dozen mails or so then yeah, that's definitely grounds for complaining, but in my case...
Two friendly mails asking for support. I really do think that's reasonable, or at least not abusive.
However I AM upset that he refuses to stab Mittani with a rapier... He suggested a long hat pin instead. I am disappointed! CCP Sreegs is my favorite developer. |

spam, seems a lot of you need to see a mail server in RL getting hit with 1000's of emails into one mailbox to appreciate what spam is, mass mailing one message to known contacts or players does not constitute mailbox spam, you have a delete key, use it if you wish, but quit whining and filling up my forum window. my old arthritic hands had to scroll though about 5 forum pages of crap. it's CSM voting time, what did you think you were going to possibly receiving from potential candidates.
now on with the reason for my post......my corp have done our voting and we hope to see Trebor back again, especially hopeful that Trade and Industry limits get looked at so we have sell, research and build more.
good luck Trebor |

I had no issue with getting the emails either. Though, I do believe a better approach is to look up CEOs of various empire corporations and alliances and reach to them; the influencers. It must be pretty nice to have a single email be the biggest problem in your life. Maybe some of these guys would like to put some of that energy into helping me map out a SAP/UPXI failure contingency process, because that **** is taking me a lot damb longer than the 2 seconds it takes to delete a god damb email. Hans Momaki wrote:I hope you can give me some short thoughts about the following points. ...
- state of mining (i.e. worse paid profession) - Local chat (and related "Intel-problematics") - missionrunning (some might say it's boring) - racial imbalances ( eh, winmatar?)
Mining is sorely in need of an income boost in the short term, and a gameplay boost in the longer term. I finally found something more boring than mining -- sending out evemails all night long.
I support the introduction of new tools that take over the intel function of local and permit it to be delayed. This will probably also be a good chance to balance AFK cloaking.
I'd like missions to be a bit more dynamic, but doing this and rebalancing the current ones may well be a big job.
Racial imbalances will hopefully be dealt with as part of CCP's ongoing balancing efforts.
Edaine Numenor wrote:So, let me ask you this. How do you intend to make EVE online more true to the published lore behind the game? Tell me how and I will vote for you.
TBH, roleplaying/lore issues are a bit outside the traditional scope of CSM activities. The bottom line is, in a fight between lore and gameplay, gameplay is going to win. Sorry if that's not the answer you wanted to hear, but I have to be honest about it.
