Ok guys I need a little help here, I have a friend who is a relatively new player and is stuck in the gallente destroyer, I am trying to get him out of it so that he can assist in some larger missions and complex runs so I figure he needs to start to follow the upgrade path. Hes gallente ofcourse so I suggested the Vexor, now he wants to salvage as he goes so he wants 2x salvagers. I came up with this setup for him as he is relatively low on skills, suggestions or your own setups would be welcome.
Vexor
Highs 3x 200mm Compressed Coil Gun I 2x Salvager I
Mediums 1x Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners 1x Cap Recharger II 1x Medium Capacitor Battery II
Lows 1x Gauss Field Balancer 1x Medium I-a Polarized Armor Regenerator 2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I Rigs 1x Anti-Explosive Pump I

Ok guys, please pass some advice, even negative comments would be welcome.
This friend of mine rolled an industrial character and has spent most of his time training the learning skills but decided to go for combat. Low sp for revant skills means a pretty ordinary setup .

I'd probably not put a MFS on a Vexor, tbh. Focus on tank and deal damage with drones. Put him on frig duty if he's missioning with you.

A gyro, are you sure? Forget guns, 2 x tractor, 2 x salvager, dla, ab, cap stuff, mission hardeners, mar. Job done.

He's on frig duty atmo with his Catalyst, although he's doing a respectable job, The allot for him to learn, I guess his skills when he gets most of them to lvl3 will help a great deal.
Naturally when he's ready there's a 0.0 corp waiting for him to apply. Basic skills in managing cap, tank and transversal are essential before pvp. Shame it takes a little explaining... "Don't fly away from a battleship shooting at you in a straight line, Pop! Arg" I think you get the picture, teaching new players can be a chore, usually I help minnie pilots so I have no clue about low sp gallente setups.

I used this Vexor setup with good success
2x 250mm railguns (bring some Iron M) Drone link augmentor Trac/salv Afterburner 2x Cap Recharger II MAR DCU 2x rat-specific armor hards 5 mediums, 5 lights
My overall tactic was to stay like 50km away and use my drones to wipe the rats out without personal risk of any kind. ------------------- I nerfed my own sig To amuse you, here is my Retriever ever since its first Trinity deployment. RIP. * * * * ** * * * ** * * * * * *** * ** ** |

What's worked for me is:
High: 4x Dual 150mm Compressed Coil Railgun (don't have the skills for RG II) w/ Iron or Iridium M 1x Drone Link
Mid: 3x F-b10 Cap Recharger
Low: MAR (named) 800mm Rolled tungsten Plate I (don't have the skills for SP II) 2x rat-specific hardeners
5x med drones for a heavy hit 10x light drones for those annoyingly-fast/far ships.
So far it's proven resilient, with the only close call being when i decided that the ending sequence of 'The Departed' was worth watching twice in a row... and ignored the rats shooting at me :P

Vexor
Highs 3x 200mm Compressed Coil Gun I 2x Salvager I
Mediums 1x Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners 1x Cap Recharger II 1x Medium Capacitor Battery II
Lows 1x Gauss Field Balancer 1x Medium I-a Polarized Armor Regenerator 2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I Rigs 1x Anti-Explosive Pump I
Drop the Cap Battery for a Cap Recharger and repalce the Magnetic Field Stab with a Plate(400mm or 800mm depends on the Fittingskills). I know that Plates are not perfect for Missions but they realy helps out with low Skills. Without a Plate you have to be very carefull(Vexor got a low buffer), especily in Missions like Damsel in Distress where you have to tank a huge Damage for a short time. The Plate provides the needet Time buffer for Missions like that. With good Drone Skills and Tanking Skills you can skipp the Plate and go for 2 Hardners + EANM II to aktive tank even huge Damage. ---- Nerf Tank - Boost Gank! |

Thank you guys, these are exactly the sort of fits I was loking for so much appreciated.
Though tbh the gyrostabilizer with rails probably won't work! :)
