While I have not been following that market closely, it seems that the prices of those skillbooks have taken a nose dive, dropping from over 100m to 20-30m in the past month or so.
Why? Have they been seeded, or nerfed? -- One day, we will return to the planets... please, CCP? :)

The drop rate increased considerably with trinity. And just after the extended DT, systems were populated insanely with new sites, so there was a huge amount of drops in the hours and days after Trinity.
A goldrush occured, dropping the prices really hard.

Interesting - so are you saying it was a one time bug and the prices may recover somewhat? -- One day, we will return to the planets... please, CCP? :)

Well its a train once skill. When invention came out there was always going to be a mass demand rise. When T2 battleships came out last patch a lot of prior non-inventors would have given it a shot. Now, it's just new players buying it and a handful of old timers, theres no more rush.
So I don't see them going back up in price again unless supply is somehow thwarted (or someone does some manipulation.

Little chance that they will go much higher. As ricdic pointed out, its a 1-time usage skill.

It should be pointed out the drop rate overall in the game was not increased.
Before Trinity, skill books would drop in Exploration Sites, and COSMOS sites. About 20% Exploration, 80% COSMOS IMO.
After Trinity, the skill books only dropped in Exploration Sites, but all the COSMOS drop rate was "moved" to the exploration site.
Since COSMOS plexs were been farmed by the same people over and over, they stockpiled the books, keeping the price artifically high. After Trinity, they had no control over the market, as books flooded the exploration sites instead, resulting in a price crash.

It's hard to make a market selling common skill books for example. I had a one day old alt fly directly to a 0.0 missioning system and sorely missed all those books that would be piled up in an empire school station (only one drone skill offered in the entire region!). But that sort of thing is probably pretty rare. I imagine most new characters out there usually have access to a corp and can grab the cheap skillbooks out of a stash or maybe they just buy a bunch of the books before they leave empire. A skill that most people don't have is more popular than one that almost everyone has. Having said that, this alt was eventually going to research datacores (a popular alt activity) and I foresee a bunch of this going on for months if not years to come. That means there will probably be some sort of long term demand for these skill books.

I dont do much exploration, but every radar site I've found since Trinity (about 4 or so) has dropped a Gallente Encryption Methods skillbook. The first couple were worth a decent amount, and the last one sold for 18 mil.

Buy up 5 of each skillbook in your normal NPC station. Go to Jita and sell skillbook at 2-5x it's value. Will sell out of most stock within days and it's an untapped market. (oh wait, not so untapped anymore)

Not so sure about the situation with the COSMOS complexes since I wasn't in there getting the books. However I'll note that Decryptors were bing farmed out of the COSMOS sites. Now that they've increased the number of Radar sites and remove Decryptors from COSMOS sites this has had certain related effects:
1) Decryptor prices have skyrocketed. 2) As more people are hitting the radar sites to get decryptors to exploit the exploding decrytptor market, the rest of the RADAR site drops are flooding the market. These include Encryption methods books, bpc's of data interfaces. Data interface construction materials. All of these items's prices have been crashing nicely as the market floods with them.
We'll have to see where things stabilize. The good news is that for people who want to get INTO invention, now's the time. The skills in all categories have been getting cheaper - NPC for the science skills, Players for the Encryption skills. Hypothetically this should lower the bar for people getting into invention which should in turn eventually lead to greater demand for everything except the encryption methods. I really don't know where the price will stabilize. However if CPP eventually adjusts the drop rates, now would be the time to grab the skills since they are so cheap.
