Does anyone else have the problem with their ship bouncing around too much when under missile attack?
The scenario: npc combat fitted bs in 0.1 system, happily fighting a nice cruiser npc spawn, lots of incoming missiles but shields are coping well. Then in warps a pvp pirate player, he is out of scramble range but attacks me from behind.
Knowing that I have a npc setup, am running low on ammo and have shields at 60% before we engage in pvp, survival instinct takes over and I seek to evade the unprovoked combat and attempt to warp away. However I am unable to enter warp because of the the bounce effect from incoming npc spawn missiles, it seems to prevent my ship aligning correctly for the warp-out. The inevitable happens and despite putting up as good a fight as I can, before long I am staring at a reaper in my clone's station.
I have now lost 2 capital ships to this game feature, as well as a full set of implants. As a working player with limited time to access EVE, recovering from a loss such as this takes a long time. The prospect of returning to systems above 0.5 for days on end, for the 2 hours I can spend in EVE after a working day, trying to find stuff to mine to replace my ships... thats not why I play EVE.
After 11 months in the game I am getting fed up of living in EVE as regenerating fodder for powergaming pirates. I've been jumped in bs's, cruisers, frigates and haulers and come to the conclusion that unless you can powergame, the balance of isk-earning potential vs pvp losses just isn't worth it.
This is not a whinge about pirates or pvp at all, I enjoy pvp when I feel I can have some bearing on the outcome. But unless I can move on from this position I know my enthusiasm for EVE will die.
Has anyone found a way to overcome this missile bounce effect? I know you can use multiple smartbombs to take out incoming missiles, but that leaves precious little room for other hi-slot fittings....

I have to agree that the missiles annoy me 2, I am in my Thorax in a 0.4 quite happily killing frigates and the odd cruiser, The kestrels shoot loads of missiles which are usually only light. They do pretty much no damage to me but shake the screen all over the place and nocking me off course. This is a bit over the top when they do 50 damage. Maybe if it was against my armour/hull or I was ina frigate but I think it should be toned down a bit for people in cruisers and battleships. (Don't talk about space physics cos this game doesn't have them)

This was heavily nerfed some time ago. Strange you've had this problem. I've had no problem warping away being spammed by bs spawns.

I have no problem here as well.
However, you have to realise that this can happen when you are in a battleship. If you don't like it, get into a cruiser wich is alot more agile.
Though if you really weren't warpjammed and you couldn't warp for minutes because of the incoming missiles I do suggest you petition it.
I doubt you can prove it and you will get paid back for it. but i do suggest you petition it anyhow.

Thats a fair point Archa, I probably was jammed towards the end as he moved in, but had plenty of time to warp away before then... or should have.
No way round it then? That sucks...

No problem??
Man i'm doing lvl3 missions in my caracal "cruiser" and when i'm hit by lights or heavies....my ship looks like a turning atleet
so it is indeed very anoying and nervwrecking when you have to emergency warp out.

One thing you can try is to warp to a point that your ship is facing, so you don't have to turn so much.
Other than that thats really bad luck to be jumped like that.

In the context the original poster put the problem I'd be ****ed too. But with missiles having so few advantages, the ability to disrupt a flight path due to the concussion shouldn't be removed.
I sympathize that you lost your ship...bad luck on your part.

The missile effect on ships is kinda stupid, nothing worse than the screen shaking and you ship spazmodicly jerking all over the place. The effect has no purpose but to annoy, I haven't lost any ships to it yet, but still, annoying as hell.

Had this the other day. 6 missile rats in a 0.4, as soon as I jumped in I hit the auto pilot. I was in my rupture but due to my ship bouncing around I was unable to get to the correct speed. In the end I had to fight my way out, killed 3 of them which open a gap in the missiles for me to get my speed up…I was down to half armor tho --------
