I just upgraded my Linux box to an nVidia GeForce 8800 GT OC and was wondering -- anyone know if it's possible to add the premium content to the official Linux Client?
My windows box is a laptop so I can't upgrade the video, but my Linux box should now more than cover it.
Anyone know if this is possible? I'd like to try installing the Windows Premium installer but don't know if this would mess things up and I'm very happy to have this working on Linux as is.

It's not part of the official client now, but according to Wine's AppDB, there's been reported success using regular wine. Your mileage may vary, I haven't tried this myself (yet).

I can confirm that Premium content "works" in Wine. You get the premium content, HDR + Bloom and new graphics, but with some artifacts here and there sometimes. It's also not quite as responsive as it is in Windows. Oh, and do NOT enable shadows, as it will bog down the game to unplayable levels. But it does work.

Works fine... in wine (bar some Stargates/Stations and capitol sized ships not rendering). Still not bad for free.
It will be interesting to see how/what Premium on cegeda looks like.

Looking for an update on this. I saw an estimated end of January I didn't really expect them to make, but the end of February is approaching now and I'm curious if they even still expect to meet the Q1 estimate or not.

I wonder if any of the developers are reading this topic :). Imho the money that they're putting in cedega would be of better use in wine considering that it works almost as well in it.

It'd be better if Transgaming used the money to work with Wine. That way CCP get their contract fulfilled more effectively. Transgaming legally gets access to the modernised Wine. Wine gets more input.
And, assuming an agreeable outcome for CCP, this could be an indefinite arrangement. Extending this to other evolving subscription like titles, Transgaming could have a very comfortable existence dealing just with gaming titles while continuing to benefit from the ever expanding Windoze compatibility of the main Wine project.

One of the big difficulties which this approach is that without Blizzard on board Transgaming prolly has little interest in changing tact. And Blizzard is well versed with dual development already so has little incentive to contract the job out.

I made a short video to show the Premium content using Wine
I uploaded it in HD quality @ videocommunity -> Link
Stations/gates are not rendered properly, the game is running stable though.
Performance is of course better if not recording!

Will the Trinity 1.1 be the one to hold Premium content for us non-windows users?
