I have been mucking about with a level 1 agent, after 8 missions I am bored witless. The missions become repitative (they need to really improve the tourist transportation system!).
So is it worth getting to level 2 and 3 agent? Do they just give the same missions but with a bigger reward? Do you ever get items? Is there a point in sticking out to get a level 2 then 3 agent?

Worth or not worth ? I just give you my numbers. ;) Decide yourself.
- spent hours and hours and hours on missions - so far between 150-200, sorry, didn't count :-) - got 9 lvl 1 agent, 2 lvl 2 agents - offered services from agents: Some lvl 1 offer sec rating increase, only one offers localization service, one lvl 2 guy, no other services - got 0 items as reward - never saw a lvl 3 or higher agent - failed only one mission, caused by the "stuck in system" bug - 90% I got the time bonus, if there was one. - 2 Agents really love due to the amount of missions I did for them. - One corp likes me a little better
Actually, if I look back... in my oppinion it wasn't worth the effort. But I might stick to it for some more time. And... maybe you are more lucky than I am.
About missions: lvl 1 agents: reward about 5-6k, you don't need to go far and you can transport anything even with a fighting frigate
lvl 2 agents: rewards from 11k to 45k (including bonus and very rare). Some missions need you to make 20 or more jumps. Sometimes u need to transport stuff that doesn't fit into a fighting frigate (like Rifter). Some missions were impossible to do.
Funniest mission till now: "Agent: Bring that guy to his execution in xxx system. Have fun!". I had fun, laughing all my way. :-) Unfortunately I only got that mission one time. |

12 missions on first Lv1 agent, 44 missions on the next.
4-5 L1 agents and I just got an L3. Seems like some people are either very unlucky or in a bugged corp.
Don't expect immediate gratification. Up to L3, agent missions really do suck. Even at L3 they aren't so hot. The fun is going to start with L4 and L5 agents, which are intended to have some very rewarding missions. Running agent missions now will have no immediate benefit, but should be considered a long-term investment.
Getting an L3 agent with the location service could be a major moneymaker. Make it known you have access, and charge 10-20k per search. (I'm pretty sure it will cost less from the agent.) Quick easy money. An L3 or higher agent (preferably multiple L3s) should be considered necessary for bounty hunting. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

Don't forget, Agents also improve standing against that Agent's corporation and faction, this enables you to trade and join elsewhere.

Weak agents are, by their nature, weak.
But you have to climb on the backs of the peons to meet the real money-makers.
Agent missions *can* supply you with items, but lvl1-3 agents were not supposed to be giving things out anyway. I have recieved a large number of miner1's so far, but little else.
I would expect agent gifts from good lvl 4 or 5 agents. I would hope that the gifts were related to the corps too. ie. you do 250 missions for a biotech corp, and you get given an implant, or something.
But for now, they're just a handy time waster. I just set up my camp at a good lvl2 agent, and have done 150+ missions for this one alone. Now I only do the 'get me minerals' type jobs for that one, until my lvl4 agents actually have some work.
When the 4's do work, I'll be able to do a neighbouring region search.
BSOD - a region search costs 20k anyway :) neighbouring region is around 50k + 2 minute wait.
Agent standing might be a multiplier for increasing corp standing. I'm not sure though. .

What do you mean get minerals only missions? You mean you refuse other missions types, and eventually get the type of mission you want?

it's not that easy.
I set up a large camp where my good level 2 agent is, and have built a huge stockpile of trade goods and minerals.
Occasionally, the agent will ask for 300 tritanium, or 150 pyrite, and, as I have this in my hangar, the mission is complete in about 10 seconds, which is a handy way to earn 20k. I've have four of these in a row.
When it comes to the other missions, some I'll do (short hops, or going somewhere I was going anyway) and others I'll just ignore (+10 hop trips). But I *don't* refuse any. I just walk away and come back an hour later, and ask again. .

I salute you ... to make over 100 agent missions. I did a little above 10 and was bored to death. Now I stick to 0.0 belts, where I get 30k - 70k per belt, depending on spawned pirates (and not counting loot, that can weight in hundreds of thousands of isk)
Generally, they (CPP) could allow some presonalization of available missions, so I could choose at least from kill/delivery/minning/etc. ----------------------------------------------------------

You mean basically turn eve into Anarchy Online....
I think its important to keep Agent Missions a very small part of the game, and learn from the mistakes of AO, because even though you could customise your missions in many different ways, it still ended up being ridiculously boring.
I do hope that lvl 4 lvl 5 agents are worthwhile, and that they give you something special otherwise all this time that everyone has spent on missions (i kinda pity the people who have done 250 missions. That's like a solid week of time... wow!) will be a waste.
Has anyone got anything good to say about missions. Anyone got anything in the slightest bit interesting???

i have something good to say ... i started with 2 lvl 3 agents and i have now 3.
missions are between 25k and 180k. most missions are like: bring me 296 omber and get 40k. don't u ever had such a easy way to get money...?
best mission i ever had was: fly 4 jumps to XXX station... get there YYY and bring it back.. 3h time ... if faster than 30 mins ... u get a bonus... so i got 180k for one mission and ~28mins of work... Mit freundlichen Gr³Żen / with kind regards

To be honest... it hasn't been worth the effort yet...
I have got about 8 agents (only one of which is level 3), done near to 200 missions and I am pretty bored with the concept at the moment. Level 3 agents do occasionally hand out some rewarding missions but only occasionally...
There is much more profit in the bounty hunting or mining business by far.
But who knows... maybe it'll change with the next agents !

I have done around 200 missions now and I have 1 average lvl 3 agent. He is not giving me the realy big missions, most I had was like 80K. So it pays less then mining, but I like it better then mining. Still, I think I made around 2 mil out of missions.

Something changed in the last patch I think. I have received 5 new agents in the past two days, and have done zero agent missions. They are messaging me left and right. It seems to happen when I destroy a convoy or a purchase a high dollar item from their corp.

Papa has been working on code that would make agents randomly say, "hi" if you docked at their station, looks like it finally got turned on this patch. (FYI, remember that "nightmare patch" where they took 8-10 hours to bring the game back up to full capacity? Apparently it was their first try at turning on that code - it killed the DB.) ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

I'm still waiting for my level 4 agents to be activated. I've done 180+ missions for my 'best' agent now, and recently, she hasn't given me any more (last 40 missions or so)
So I'm gonna sack her, and hunt pies until the 4's are in. .

I've done maybe 150 or so missions spread over two corps (Chemal Tech and The Leisure Group) and so far they have been a complete waste of time. I haven't done any missions for The Leisure Group for about a week, but the "agents" that my Chemal Tech agent provides me with are pitiful.
The only reason I'm doing this is so that I can have a couple of agents who are capable of doing player searches. So far I've got ****. The best they can do is accept bribes.
At the moment agents are neither rewarding or interesting, from my point of view.
As an aside I haven't had an agent contact me out of the blue since I had my first contact with Chemal Tech, and I've docked at quite a few different stations in several regions since then.

I must say I was surprised when doing a mission. I made only one mission when I started to play, to get some ore. I failed as I got bussy in other tasks on the way. After that I didnt pay any attention to agents or missions. Now, a few weeks later, I suddenly get a lot of new agents, when I dock at a station a new agent pops up. I got 4 new in a couple of days, never spoke to any of them until one appered at my "homebase". "Well, lets see what he can do", he asked me to transport 2000 ammo a few jumps and I got 130.000 ISK for it!!!!. I didnt expect that, so I guess I will speak to him agin. :-)

Hanover: I suggest that you try coming back in a month or so.
Hopefully Papa revisits the distance limitation code soon. It appears that the requests of players to get agents "close to home" has severely limited progress within the agent system. Also, it should not be expected that early agents are powerful. The agent system is an investment - Early agents are indeed going to suck. The big rewards come at L4 and L5 (And also if you get a high-quality L3 - Some of my L3 missions have paid well, others have been crap, but that's because the agent's quality is "abysmal".)
This game is not about instant gratification. No MMOG is. If you think running agent missions sucks, try the insanely boring task of spending a few hours in DAoC trying to get to level 5 just so you can actually pick your class... It's hell. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

eh, people. Remember that the agents are ONE things out of many, many others in the game. If you only do agent missions it will surely bore you just like mining all the time will. Do trading, hunting, manufacturing, corp building, exploring etc. Then it's much more fun in my opinion /Andreas

Btw. next patch I've about doubled the rewards of all agent missions after the tutorials. Should at least make them a little more worthwhile, although they will still be boring unless our content creators start using some of the facilities for non-boring missions available in the agent system.
Level 4+5 missions will be geared more towards player-vs-player and corp-vs-corp activities, with NPC's prodding players in the direction of blood and mayhem.
