Vexor it is.
My skills are minimal yet on gunnery Controlled Bursts / skill level 2 Gunnery / skill level 2 Motion Prediction / skill level 2 Rapid Firing / skill level 2 Sharpshooter / skill level 2 Small Energy Turret / skill level 1 Small Hybrid Turret / skill level 2 Weapon Upgrades / skill level 2
I have fitted: High: 4 x 150mm Rail Guns Salvager
Medium Web 1 afterburner 10 Medium Cab Booster
LOW 2x 800mm roll tungsten 1x nano something regenarating 1x Medium armor repair
I know that I need to train my skills more but I am going all way to learning. I still got like 1 week of skill research to have 3 level 5 learning and all the rest to level 4. Then i will start working on my other skills.
With this setting i have some cpu free but no capacitor free at all.
Any ideas what I can do to improve it with the current constrains i have? IT get something like 7500 armor (and a bit) but my dps is low cause of my low gunnery and drone skills. But that is the area i will work once learning skills are done.
I aim to use it for level 2 missions (not interested on PVP) and ofcourse mining.
Thanks in advance,
P.S. What skills should i train after? And if you gonna use appriviation please explain what are they cause I am a noob and have no clue most of them what they stand for.

Well, for one thing I don't think you'll need that web, your 150's should be able to track frigs just fine.
Second, when you say you have no cap free, don't you mean you have no power grid free? Or are you saying that your cap runs dry very quickly?
Instead of the web you could maybe fit a tracking computer and switch out tracking speed/optimal range scripts as the mission progresses. A target painter is also a possibility, or if you need the cap, a cap recharger.
As far as planning for the future, train the skills that let you fight from a distance because as you move up in missions long range combat is the way to go. Also drones, because as you start to use the bigger guns your drones will be needed for those frigs.

Ya no power grid free to add anything. I thougth about the web in case i have problems with frig i could web them and kill them.
I also used small guns cuase of the skills i have and that i got a 3% damage on railgun from an implant (mission reward).
Forgot to mention DPS is just over 200 with the medium drones.

Fitting two 800mm plates is probably the main reason your PG is so gimped.
I think the ship gets a bonus to hybrids. If so it is only to Medium hybrids and you will get no bonus by fitting small (frig) guns. If you can get some power grid (increasing your engineering and fitting skills or swapping one of plates for a hardner or cap power relay) then I would aim for "named" dual-150mm hybrids e.g. "scout" dual-150mm.
These will get the ship bonus and will track as well as the frig sized 150mm. The damage is slightly higher on these.
You could maybe fit a damage control instead of the plate. That would give you some hull resists in emergencies and would free up lots of power grid (although they do eat CPU a bit).
Your set-up is ok for lvl 2 missions though with your skills.

Well, I think you're having PG issues because of running 2 800mm plates, maybe you could drop one and pick up a damage control unit?

To be honest, this is one of the best "first cruiser fits" that I've seen so far. It can be improved upon, but I went in this thread expecting much worse

ok how about the following:
Damage control 2 --> instead of the 1 800mm plate Cap Recharger 2 --> instead of the web
I check and i can use them both since i got the skills.
Anything else might make it better?
So it will looks like:
4 x 150mm Rail Guns Salvager
Medium Cap Recharger 2 afterburner 10 Medium Cab Booster
LOW 1 x Damage control 2 1x 800mm roll tungsten 1x nano something regenarating 1x Medium armor repair

This. Seriously, you did a very reasonable job. There's stickies up at the top and a search feature on the right that lets you search for other people's fittings.
Also, there's eve-search which has a much better search interface.
For PVE, you're looking for sustained damage, so repair amount and resistances are really important. For PVP, the plate and nano setups are gold.
So a reasonable PVE setup:
4x 150mm/dual 150 rails, small remote armor rep (for your drones) 10mn AB, 3x cap recharger MAR, 3x rat specific hardeners
(rats are NPCs, pirates are players ... in case you get confused).
for PVP: 4x light neutrons blasters, nosferatu (nos) 10mn mwd (microwarp drive), web, warp disruptor 1600 plate, 2x energized adaptive nano membranes (EANM), damage control (DC)

WTB Vexor with 4 mids.
Anyways, OP, basically follow Liang Nuren's setup, though I would personally put in a tractor/salvager instead of two rails, not try to fit more midslots than the ship actually has, and swap a hardener for a DCU. I like DCUs because they provide a little non-stacking-penalized armor resists, and will extend your hull quite a bit (giving you more time to warp out if the **** hits the fan). ------------------- I nerfed my own sig To amuse you, here is my Retriever ever since its first Trinity deployment. swap your `regenerating` thing in the lo`s (i think u mean the one that gives more hitpoints) for a resist one against the specific damage the rats do.
apart from that it will do, you will need to get back to training real skills before you can improve on that much.
u could cap rechargers instead of web/cap booster, or just 1 instead of cap booster to try and save you messing with cap charges.
nice 1st setup really

Edited by: Si Delane on 11/01/2008 23:30:48 Liang wins thread. (Also, that is an excellent first setup now that I look at it some more...)
Personally I am a firm proponent of downsized weaponry on the Thorax and Vexor. Primarily because of all that delicious grid left over, but also because while T2 smalls are easy to train for, T2 mediums are quite a bit harder. That in combination with the damage potential of T2 smalls vs T1 mediums (void S ftw), I see almost no reason to give up my sweet-sweet MWD and 1600mm plate on my Thorax and Vexor.

I just recently graduated from my Vexor to a Myrmidon. The Vexor is a lovely little ship, it'll blow through any level 2 mission.
But you really need to focus on your drone skills, the Vexor is a drone boat, not a gunboat. Drones V and Drone Interfacing III is a must I would say.
My setup for lvl 2s :
HIGH 4 x 150mm Scouts 1 x Drone link augmentor
MEDIUM 10mn Afterburner 2 x Cap recharger
LOW MAR 800mm plate 2 x energized plating
Drones :
5 x hammerheads
Above set up requires very little skills, I used the passive hardeners as I couldnt use the active ones until much later.
The plate is a must for certain missions with huge initial damage, like Stop the Thief. With low skills, you might run out of cap too soon, the plate gives you a nice buffer while your drones finish off the remaining enemies.
