[1] Edited by: Brent Steel on 21/03/2004 18:35:57 I have got Eve to work Full screen on one monitor without minimising every time you click on something else on the other monitor. I am using a Crative 3D Blaster Ti4800, it may differ for other cards. 1 download Nvidias forceware driver from http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp 2 Set up monitors in DualView mode at whatever res and refresh you need. (horisontal span mode sucks) 3 Start eve and goto settings screen. 4 Goto graphics and look at the display adapter selection. You should have 2 entries make sure you have selected the second one 5 select full screen and make sure you have the same res and colour depth as the secondary display selected 6 Drag the eve window to the secondary display and click on "close window" button on the settings (not at the top of the screen). eve should now be FS on your secondary display. You shopuld also be able to do stuff on the primary display without disturbing eve. I think the reason it minimises when running on the primary when you click on the secondary is because the start bar tries to come to the top. Since there is no start bar on the secondary display it does not cause eve to minimise. Make sure you do not have any other windows running on the secondary display or you may still get eve minimising. I hope this at least helps some people untill CCP Devs manage to reply to at least one of the requests for official input on how to do 2 monitors without using horisontal span. |

[5] I was uing it fine for about 5 hours yesterday while using the forums and watching avi's yet, today it doesn't work any more. I have no idea now why it worked yesterday, I have even less idea why it doesn't work today as I havn't changed anything. I'll have a good look into it and see if I can work out how and why it worked yesterday. |

[7] it seems a bit temperamental. I have got mine working again, although I'm sure exactly how. The first couple of times I tried the same thing and it failed. The first time I load it up and put it in FS mode, I click on the other window and it minimises eve. I click on eve again in the task bar and it pops back onto the screen. If I then click again on the other screen it stays maximised. I'm writing this now on one screen with the other having a FS eve. I think one thing you need to make sure is that you are running eve in exactly the same colour depth, resolution and refresh rate, that way the monitor doesn't try and resync itself. |

[9] OK, I think I have realised why it seems to be working sometimes. It's an illusion. I ws wondering why when I quit and restart it was back in windowd mode. I got it working FS again and went into the settings to check them, but it said it was in windowed mode, despite the fact there were no window borders and it looked like it was FS. I think sometimes it changes back to window mode, but is perfectly positioned so I have no borders visible, or it is bugged and the borders are not drawn, so it fits the screen perfectly. I would expect to see a stripe down the right edge of my primary screen if it was showing the border as it would overlap to my primary display, but I can't. I think it is safe to assume that it is still broken unless I can work out how to repeat the procedure reliably, but it doesn't seem to be consistent in what happens. Well I can't get it to go again now. AHHhhhhhhh! I thought I had *****ed it, but it was just a convinient but unreliable bug it seems. |

[12] I have a working fix for this. Download a program called "evemon" which monitors all your eve characters out of game. One of the wonderful options I found there is under Options->General. Relocate windowed EVE to fill a monitor (choice of monitor follows). Works great. Can click anywhere and eve is still there and working well. Because it's windowed you can still access your start bar and taskbar by clicking the off monitor and it just comes to the front (you can still see eve and click there without a problem). Really nice fix, found it 2 days ago, will never go back ;) RR. |
