My trip to 0.0 now begins and I have started thinking about what ship to use and fitting. First I will use a Punisher but doubt it can take down a BS or iam even quite sure about it. So my idea is a Vengeance which i soon can use, mainly for its missile hardpoints. Good/bad idea? I am a missile noob so please give me some good fitting ideas for a Vengeance. Fitting skills are not a big issue. Somebody set up us the bomb |

If you want to rat in 0.0 with amarr t2 frigs use the retribution...
4x med pulse 2 1mn ab 2 small rep 2, 2x heat sink 2, either 2x cpr or 1 cpr + 1 thermic hardener (if you fit thermic membrane in low you can fit a salvager in your fifth high).
PS. you won't be able to kill a rat in a punisher, although you can tank them (providing they don't spam too many missiles or have webs).
PPS. geddon > retribution for ratting, so just train for that, doesn't take much time to get bs 3, guns 3, and skills needed to do a basic tank.

An annoying part of 0.0 ratting is having to leave and buy more ammo.

the retri is nice, but lacks enough dps for my tastes. The geddon is nice, but lacks grid... and its a big hulk of a ship asking to get ganked.
The zealot is a fine ship, born of pure genious, that makes ratting even in hostile territory easy ;D

Hehe. I could kill BS sized ship with a Punisher, but took a while. Will do better with a Retribution.
Aiming for Zealot tbh but still a month away so ^^ I prefer small ships lol Somebody set up us the bomb |

That makes me glad as im 11 days off a zealot myself. Any tips on a ratting setup to kill serps? I tried asking in a thread but no replies were useful but to use 3 hs lls.

I'd also recommend the Retribution over the Vengeance; while the Vengeance can take mad amounts of abuse, you won't need that for ratting (if you have half a clue about flying frigates ), and the extra damage the Retribution puts out will help a lot, especially with BS sized rats.
Here's my setups that I use for L3 missions in the Amarr AFs; they should work well for ratting too:
[Vengeance, PvE] Power Diagnostic System II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Small Armor Repairer II
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Cap Recharger II X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Rocket Launcher II, Gremlin Rocket Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
[Vengeance, PvE Rockets] Type-D Power Core Modification: Diagnostic System Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Small Armor Repairer II
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Eutectic I Capacitor Charge Array X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Rocket Launcher II, Foxfire Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Foxfire Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Foxfire Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Foxfire Rocket
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
[Retribution, L3] Partial Power Plant Manager: Diagnostic System Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Overdrive Injector System I Small Armor Repairer II
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
Small Diminishing Power System Drain I Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S Medium Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency S

The web on the Vengeance is only for holding rats in place and probably not necessary at all; I just didn't know what to put in that slot and was looking for something that could be useful at least some of the time (it can still help with the occasional webbing rat; some "named" frigate rats do that). The rocket setup is only theoretical and could use some work; it actually doesn't need the cap recharger nor the power diag for a cap stable tank with my skills. I put that together in EFT because the Vengeance is supposed to be a rocket ship, but I've never used it, as I'm not that much of a missile user myself. Oh, and all these setups are with AWU 5, and the first and third are very tight on power grid, so they'd probably require some tweaking for many players. For the Retribution, you could drop down to Dual Light Beams and replace the power diag with a third Heat Sink II for nearly the same damage with much lower power grid requirements. You'll have a slightly lower range as well, but that doesn't matter, as you want to orbit the bigger rats pretty close anyway to be under their tracking for sure. (DLB II range on the Retribution for me is 5.1km with Multispectral; I've ratted Serpentis with a Neutron Blaster Enyo with an optimal range of 1.7km).
