I am confused by how you improve your attributes. Am i right in thinking you need to improve your learning skills or are attributes trained separately?
On the skills i can train gunnery, spaceship command etc I can see no reference to learning skills. How do i train learning skills and where do i find them.
If i need to buy them which skills do i buy so i can start training learning skills.
Sorry if i sound thick but any help would be gratefully received

Learning skills is one way to increase your attributes. There's the skill called 'Learning' which decreases training time by increasing your attributes a little (AFAIK. They are rounded off, so you cannot see the change). The other skills used to get better attributes are skills like Spatial Awareness and Iron Will (sorry, cannot remember all of the names at the moment, but they're all located under 'learning' on the market), each giving you an extra point per skill level to the attribute they effect.
Another way to increase attributes is by using implants, but for that you'll need science and cybernetics skills, and the implants are expensive and lost when you die.
When you train other skills, the training time depends on the 2 attributes mentioned under the skill info. The better the attributes, the shorter the training time :)

Not sure about this, but the primary attribute accounts for 2/3 of the time needed to train a skill. Also, what the learning skill actually does is add .2 points to each attribute per level. So should you train to learning 5, you have effectively raised all your attributes by 1 point. Still a good skill to have. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Thanks for the help. I have a better understanding now.
However as i have no learning skills in the skills i can train ( at the moment skills i can train are gunnery, spaceship command etc but no learning skills) does this mean i have to buy learning skills before i can start training them. If i have to buy them which ones should i buy first.
Thanks for any help and your patience.

You will need to buy the skills. As to which first, I prefer Int/Mem, as they are the required attrribs for the learning skills themselves.

Dont just concentrate on the skills in your skill sheet. Depending on which direction you want to take in the game eg mining, pirate, etc depends on which skills would be most suitable for you.
While you are in a station click on the market icon on the right and select "items" then scroll down to skills. There you will find a list of most if not all skills available. Ok you might not have enough money to buy any to start with but it will give you a good idea what the skills are. And as i said the skills on your own skill sheet may not be totally relevant to what you want to do - if so don't train them - buy skills that you will need and train them.
The best advice i received was to buy the Learning skills 6 in total and concentrate on training them first. I didnt realise this when i started and spent the first 4 days just training my original skills without realising i could buy more (serves me right for not reading forums etc first).
Sorry this is a bit of a ramble but i hope it was of some use to you.
ps i forgot to say DONT bother with Charisma aparently it is really of no use - yet another thing i didnt know untill i trained up in it :(

One thing you should note... set a goal for yourself skillwise and use the eve-i.com calc to find the best path. Myself for instance, rerolled due to some poor choices in character setup, and I wanted to be in a Thorax ASAP. Most people on this forum would say train all of your learning skills to 4-5 right away, as you train faster. In reality, the time it would of taken me to train past lvl 2 in the learning tab, I wouldn't gain anything in my spaceship tab (it was faster to leave learning stuff at 2, and go ahead and train upto cruiser3, than it was to train learning stuff to 4-5 and then train cruisers).
Probably the biggest thing I've learned so far in Eve is, you need to have a plan, and you need to stay organized. Stagger skill training so when your sleeping you have like an 11 hour skill going for instance so you lose no time.
