That what I always believed, but then I only ever watched one or two episodes at a time.
I just recently got the boxed set of Babylon 5, boy was I wrong. It has it's faults but it is one of the best Scifi series I have
ever seen. The story is outstanding and the way it played out.. genius!
Babylon 5 is great.

I didn't really like it until I saw the "In the Beginning" movie, which really made me like it lot more. I still haven't seen 90% of the episodes though

hehe why do u think its still going years after it got cancelled. every so often something sneaks out though frequently these days it doesn't have any of the main cast any more.

was going to call the Shadows in on this topic. 
great show and even though it has it`s cringing moments ("Grey 17 is Missing" anyone  ) it still ranks as one of the best scifi shows ever.
p.s. dont mention Legends Of The Rangers.... some things are best forgotten.

you watch a couple of random episodes and bab 5 feel like a weak star trek show. thats because star trek is written to be resolved in one or maybe 2 episodes, bab 5 was written with 5 seasons in mind. it's strength is seeing the story arcs come to fruition.
there is no doubt it has its flaws (season one should be considered a pilot for its production values alone) but overall it really does rock.

Yea, season one did require a bit of willpower to get through, but I knew there would be payoff.
'In the beginning' is a great move to get up to speed, but it only really pays off well if you have watched the first 3 seasons.
I did fell a little disappointed in the later DVD movies though. And The lost tales :/
Didn't watch the Rangers yet..

Season 1-4 awesome season 5 was a let down (never let Turner get anything good ever again), legend of the rangers was terrible tbh, the other 4 movies were good, in the beginning was my fav.
Spoiler warning possibly.
Recently seen the lost tales DVD nearly brought a Tear to my eye when Sheridan asks about G'kar and franklin and Lochley replies they wont make the party as there gone to explore beyond the rim So sad and to see the cast recognise it, you can really feel the emotion everytime there mentioned, just go's to show the great writing and friendship the cast had.

It does seem like season 5 was a slight after thought. It finished nicely in season 4.
The end of 5 is ok, but never tied in with the time that Sheridan jumped to the future and was told in a confusing way about the keeper by Mollari several seasons earlier.
Was that jump only to show the fate of Mollari?

Yeah, main reason that the 5th season seems a little superfluous was because at the time they were filming the 4th season they weren't sure they would get a 5th season due to the impending demise of the prime time entertainment network (PTEN) so they had to wrap up the main loose ends (i.e the shadow war and the whole president clark issue) by the end of the 4th season and then they suddenly found out they were getting a 5th season and kind of went...um well...er...where do we go from here?
Don't get me wrong, season 5 had some good episodes but it just didn't quite have the same consistant quality that the preceeding seasons tended to possess.
god I feel like a geek.....oh wait....nevermind.......

watching them all in seris is indeed epic, the storylines are excellent and they dont do the whole "humans are be all and end all" i mean the menbari kicked out sweet ass rather well and almost wiped out the whole of earth lol

there was no doubt that the rush ending of season 4 weakened season 5, not that i blame them at all, if you are not sure you will be getting that next season you really have to do something with those plot lines.
