I'm trying to raise standings with Brutor Tribe, so I'm taking four Lv1 missions at once, completing them all, then turning them in and going back in my Thrasher for salvage.
I'm currently using 3x 150mms and a rocket launcher, with a passive tank build. If I swap the launcher for an explosive smartbomb, will I still have enough cap? Should I go down to 125mms? Is this just a stupid idea altogether?
Comments, suggestions, flames?

A) if you are trying to raise standings, why bother even salvaging? B) smartbombs are relatively useless in missions unless you have alot of frigs orbiting at under 3km...(6km for large t2). Generally, this is only good in like rouge drone missions... C) smartbombs are also a good way to get yourself accidentally concordokken.

For someone as young as me, salvaging just makes too much money to ignore. I figure, with my Rifter, I want to be pretty close anyway (especially if I go to 125mms). My main concern is how much cap they go through. It seems like SBs are only ever used to suicide gank Jita, I can't find any type of guide for them as a legitimate weapon choice.

You would be suprised at how little damage a single smartbomb actually causes. _________________ Burn. |

Smartbombs have their uses. General mission running is not one of them. Too many variables, too many ways to get concorded, waste of cap, tbh. Rogue Drone Missions L2 and L3, they own. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

Just some more hints on the rifter.
Try an active armour tank for the rifter. In my experience it works far better than shield tanking (passive or active).
Don't worry too much about whether you fit 125mm, 150mm, or 200mm. Just put on the biggest guns you can fit after the rest is on your ship. You're going to orbit at 500m for maximum damage either way and you don't lose much dps by downgrading your guns.
Fit a gyrostabiliser, small armor repper, and rolled tungsten plates (the bigger the better) in the lows. That should give enough of a tank to complete just about any lvl1 mission.
In the mids, you will need at least an afterburner (I prefer MWD to speed things up). Fit whatever else you want to put in there. For PvP you'll typically fit in a webber and scrambler. I found the webber pretty handy for missions, too. Since I can't run my MWD all the time (I just use it to close gaps that are bigger than 20km with a single boost), I like to web them to keep them close.
For the 4th high slot: Keep that launcher for the extra damage.
Make sure you use the correct ammo. This will help tremendously. I've completed many lvl2 missions with my rifter, just by setting it up correctly and training my support skills.

I tend to bring smartbombs fairly often to missions. But on smaller ships, it's more often than not a waste. Not to suprisingly most frigates orbit at 5000m+ which means - only faction smartbombs work fairly well. And for it to be successful at all - you'll want high skills. Nothing to prioritze if you're in a rifter. If you want to plow through lvl 1 missions, go with a thrasher.
On the other hand, if you fit 2 Faction Smartbombs on your battleships utility slots(or if the guns are not in focus) you won't really have to worry about smaller ships any more. Then again, it takes quite a few missions just to cover the cost of buying one.

So I tried it....
Meh. I like my Rifter for going fast. With the smartbomb, I had to worry about where everyone is, what I might hit to get Concordokkened, how close my next target is, should I slow down to hit that group, etc.
Nup. Go fast, dakka dakka, BOOM. Much more enjoyable.
