Not that the devs are reading this or anything, but I had what I thought was a cool idea, and I thought I would share it with all of you.
One interesting concept once used by real-world seafaring empires to deter or combat piracy were Q-Ships (disguised warships or armed merchantment.) Indistinguishable from a freight ship under ordinary circumstances, they were heavily armed and accounted for several submarine (the commerce raiders of the day) kills during World War I.
After realizing that most EVE Industrial Ships often have armor and structure well within the Cruiser range, I got to thinking it might be interesting if the Empires took off-the-shelf industrial ships, refitted them with off-the shelf cruiser shields, power grids, sensor arrays, and drone bays, and set them to plying the spaceways in antipiracy patrols.
And, of course, I also wanted the chance to fly one of these beasts.
So again, while its not like CCP is actually listening, a girl can always dream, right? 
Q-Ships (Armed Merchantmen and Disguised Warships)
-- Mostly fills the cargo hold of an existing industrial ship with cruiser-grade shields, electronics, and power systems, and possibly missile launchers and/or drone bays.
-- Q-Ships should be outwardly identical to corresponding industrial ships and should report the appropriate industrial ship stats when submitted to a "show info." A ship scanner should reveal their true nature (but only at close range.)
-- Should require the appropriate levels of Industrial ship skill and the same level of race Cruiser skill, and should recieve the appropriate bonuses for each.
-- Production costs and times should be similar to tech 1 Cruisers
I propose the following Q-Ships based on current Industrial Ship designs:
Wolverine (Badger:) Stats identical to Badger, except: Cargo Capacity: 412.5 Drone Capacity: 400 Shield: 750 Shield Charge: 1000 Capacitor: 675 Cap Charge: 241 Targeting Range: 52.5km Max Locked Targets: 5 ScanRes: 330 Gravimetric Sensor Strength: 9 Power: 475
Super Wolverine (Badger mk2) Cargo Capacity: 525 Drone Capacity: 250 Shield: 1200 Shield Charge: 1000 Capacitor: 1100 Cap Charge: 393 Targeting Range: 55km Max Locked Targets: 7 ScanRes: 265 Gravimetric Sensor Strength: 11 Power: 750 Launchers: 1

Although this idea is intresting and sounds like fun it wouldnt really work until more pirates are flying cruisers and frigates rather than battleships. Thats not really going to happen until piracy becomes an option away from the gates and stations.

I've suggested this carrier type industrial before, hardly any cargohold and all drones. Only detectable through scanning and even then you'll not be able to distinct between cargohold and drone hold on these ships, so a regular industrial carrying drones in the cargohold will be able to feign being a carrier.

Cruiser sized? what indy are you looking at I know for a fact that my Mamoth rivals an Apoc as far as physical size goes.
but i definatly like the idea been thinking along the same lines my self now that you can't fill all your med slots with burners beeen putting some simple ew in them.

I really like that she went through the effert to submit some stat with her idea outline. I like it.
Also I know corp moves will often invole several industrial ships. So Q-ships could easily be incorprated into an escort.

If only effort actually counted for something. 
Oh well, either the idea will get used or it won't. Either way, I don't think I'll find out soon.
I actually wish the Devs would come on here and tell me "good idea, J'Rela, we'll look at implementing that." or "J'Rela, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, forget it!"
Just some kind of feedback from the people who actually matter would make this place a lot better.

Good idea, though I'd suggest cutting your suggested cargo size in half. If you don't do that you would have people flying around in the Iterion MK4c and 5c (and other indy's) loaded with Cargo expanders and Multiple MWD's. You would then have the choice of a cargo carrier or a disguise fighter but not both. _________________________________________________

is hardly likely to encourage people to help you, and you see thy do read the suggestions, it's just that not all are any good ot easily implimented within the framework of the game.
You catch more bees with hony than vinegar.

Haha...this is funny.
Mainly because we used to catch alot of people in kestrels doing similar stuff with mark 5s. Bouncing back and forth on the highways, we eventually attract a few frigates who launch a couple cruise missiles at us. Only they dont know that the mark 5 is fitted with a few armors and a couple hardeners on the shield. Usually took them a while to figure out why they couldnt warp out afterwards when the cops showed up :).
With a couple boosters and a warp scrambler we were able to lock them down and let the cops take care of them. Only trick is to do a MWD approach on the missiles once they are launched. Causing the time the do damage to you to be much shorter meaning you get to "retailiate" with a scrambler before they are able to get away.
This is a good idea for the future. Id like to also see them be a bit more specific on the missile damage stuff. When you fire a missile while locked onto a target you are not at war with...it should be considered a violent attack...even if it blows up before reaching you. Why you ask? well the same reason why warp disruptors are violent threats....even thought ehy do no damage. :)
