props to Soul Cartel for coming out to visit. they sent out a gang of 4 or 5, spanked some noob in the belts then flew off with their tail between their legs when a response fleet was formed. ah well, i got some shots off, but sadly could not pop the ship before it jumped.
then SK Rooster comes for a visit and ends up popping my son. LOL poor kid has only had a paid for pod for just about a week. Good job SK, your phobos surely pwnd the kid who cant even fit a mwd yet. did you scoop his corpse for your collection of babies that you've killed?
and my thanks goes out to the few locals who have wished us luck, and more thanks to those who actually join the local defence and patrol fleets.
see you all out there

I'm sure that the 'noob in the belts' is happy to hear your description of him/her. And for the record, when is it considered flying off 'with their tail between their legs' when confronted by a (possibly) superior force? Sounds like good strategy to me. (Sun Tsu would be proud.)

Wait, didn't you invite the Pirates to your system, through issuing your veiled challenge? Next time, maybe you make sure that everyone is prepared before throwing down the gauntlet.

Sounds like you brought that upon your son yourself. If you had explained why low sec space is called LOW SEC, then maybe he had stayed in high sec until he understod the game mechanics and had enough skills and experience to avoid getting killed by one of the areas most notorious and well known pirates.
Noobs guide to low sec survival:
A: Always check local, constantly. When unknown person enter local, align to warp out, get to max speed and start scanning 360 degrees at 1 AU. If unknown show up on scanner, warp to safespot or station. If it's a safespot, align for next safespot, gain speed and warp away within 30 seconds (or if you see unknown on scanner before the time is up). Repeat until local is friendly again or you dock.
B: If known pirate enter local, warp to station and dock instantly. Don't undock until local is friendly again or an experienced friendly pilot assure you it's safe to come out.
C: Don't travel between systems in low sec without a scout. If you are alone and have no scout alt, don't leave the system you are in.

getting killed by SK Rooster has become a rite of passage in solitude. you are not a true resident until he's killed you. he's a good tactician, he knows how to play with and force people into making mistakes. he is really good at what he does. but he CAN be stopped.
yes the lad is a noob, and he will learn from his mistakes. the point is that SK Rooster is a problem the region can really do without. however the region would also be weird without him hanging about.
this posts original intention was never to call out all the pirates (though it is funny that it has) it was intended to get the locals to undock and stand up to the bullies of the universe.
You, DR. McTurtle are the type of person that gives the pirates their power of fear. You turtle up and hide when there is danger, you encourage others to do the same. so what happens. those not paying attention get spanked by the baddies and all the carebears will cry their song of lament.
if everyone would just have a pvp ship ready at all times and instantly mobilize when the pirates show up, they will soon learn that we, the residents of solitude, are not the soft fluffy targets that they have come to find so tasty.

If you do it my way, the pirates get no kills at all. They get bored and move on to another area. If you do it your way, they get more kills and more loot, thus they have incentive to stay longer and maybe even bring some friends to share it with. Which way seems most efficient for the average carebear?

well m8, some people like to shoot rocks cuz they dont shoot back. others like to defend their homes when they get attacked.
but what if the pirates got popped every time they came to visit. do you think they would keep coming back?
sure we may loose a few ships, but if they die every time, then who comes out the winner?
but of course you have to have some guts in the first place to even put your ship in harms way. the pirates have guts, do turtles? _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Like the Soul Cartel who escaped before you could get assembled?
Originally by: Pierre Dumonte sure we may loose a few ships, but if they die every time, then who comes out the winner?
Assuming, of course, you actually get to attack them, in the first place.

this is where tactics and strategic planning come into play. but yeah sometimes the pirates move through too fast to pin them down. it happens. we do it to them too in syndicate. but thats what makes the game so fun and challenging

For most pirates the fear of a ship loss is not going to stop them from entering your home. Pirates feed on the rush of a kill. The pirate is the junkie, and you are the high.

Serious question as my corp has a griefwatch kb, and I've got no idea how it tallies kills and losses:
The campaign summary says 246 kills and 47 losses, but looking at the 'targets' below, the tally for losses is much much higher. Just looking at the five first of the 21 listed corps shows 116 kills and 58 losses. How is that possible?

Thank you for bringing that to my attention, The corps recently banded together into alliances for various reasons. That messed with the stats abit. I think some kills were stacking. Should be readjusted.

the correct answer is... yes i would be pirating. and yes i admit to doing that on many occasions. in fact until recently i lived the NBSI lifestyle. does that make me a pirate? in some circles yes. but outlaw i am not.
but really, we call NBSI folks pirates, when really they are not. in fact the groups i mentioned, with the exception of NOTR are not really pirates. we simply are more like warring tribes raiding each other for fun and profit. but when you come into our territory wreaking havoc, you become criminals to the residents and therefore deserve to be hunted down like rabid dogs.
and i guess you folks feel the same way when we prey on you. so then it comes back down to fighting the good fight for the sake of sport.
we are not pirates, we are sportsmen
i like KingRizen's answer tho.
