Edited by: Mirimon on 22/03/2004 15:32:42 Hey, I need a little help on deciding what to do for this mission...it seems other people I know have had trouble with it, and I want to know the best ship setup so I can avoid death.
My mission is to take out a transport gaurded by 2 Moas. I helped out with someone else doing this mission in a kestrel and saw how he was destroyed. Once you attack the two moas they mwd quite quickly on you (seems to be more than just a standard 10mn mwd) and stop warp, stop ship, destroy with effeciency.
I would be flying a Moa myself, or a BB if that would be better. Looking for suggested setups, strategies to beat this, thanks.

when i had a tough mission to complete (and my corp was busy) i went onto the recruitment channel and asked if someone could help me.
Within 10 mins a megathron turned up and helped me kill the cruiser rats i needed to kill.

Thanks for the response...but I would like to become effecient in doing my lvl 3 agent missions alone. Also, it helps me gain some experience.

Well for kill missions if prefere this setup with my moa:
HI slots: Guns and launchers, useing lead and emp missiles
MED slots: Shield booster, Explosion dmapening field, Ballistic deflection shield and EM ward reinforcment.
LOW slots: singal amplifier, flux stabiliser, 2x Cap power relays.
Warp in at 60km and lock all the bad guys. When the boss starts getting closer to you, around 55km, start launching emp missiles at him, and select the 'keep at current range'. Now my MOA only does 191 m/s so he will close in on you, but not as fast. When he is at around 45km you should open up fire with the 250mm as his shields should be pretty beaten by now. Note that with my skills the optimal range for my 250mm is 35km and a falloff of 12km. That is with lead ammo.
Usually he will be dead before he gets closer than 24km. I find this works very well for me, i havnt taken hull/armor dmg with this setup so far, and ive done a few missions :)

Edited by: Haxar on 22/03/2004 16:23:52 I guess they are the Infernos (as these were the only ones I had trouble with).
Get a Shield Booster, 2x Thermal Shield Hardeners against their Cruise Missiles and a 10MWD to keep them in a decent distance.
One Inferno you can tank in a Blackbird with ease and slowly take down with Heavy Missiles, if you get two Infernos in the mission I would suggest to get a bunch of Cruise Missiles (EM/Explosive).
EDIT: Oh and watch the Scanner, if they start to get faster, just tip on the MWD.

I just load up on iron ammo, start fireing with my 3 250mm's at 50km and burst on my MWD if they get too close, easy .

speed and range is all the rage.
fire from afar and try and maintain some distance. there no profit in getting close to these rats, especialy if your in a cruiser.
the missles is a good idea...but remeber to use missles you get from loot. you do not want to be spending isk buying missles to kill pirates.
asking for help also makes sence. but ONLY in a 0.5 or aboive sys. anything lower and you WILL be ganked...

Well if they are Infernos your speed will get you to nowhere (except keeping outside the devasting gunning range), as they will lock and fire at you even if you are 85km away (no, sensor dampeners do not work ).

Mirimon, I believe the mission you're talking about is with the two Gurista Infernos. Like was pointed out, speed is irrelevant here, they will get to you no matter what. Those two shoot cruise missiles of the termal variety. What I did was to put a shield extender (will get your shield to 1600 or so), a medium shield booster and 2 termal shield hardners in the medium slots of my Moa. I also use 4 rails, 1 launcher with defenders and 1 with torpedoes.
Then I warp at maximum 60km and instantly turn around and head the other way. Then lock and fire your torps. Yes, they fire at you but the shield booster, 2 shield hardners (their cruises will hit you for only 83 damage or so) with the defenders should help. Until they get in range of the railguns, I usually have 4 torps underway. The idea is to kill one as soon as possible while being able to take a bit of damage. Once one is down, the other one should be easy, defenders should keep up.
