Been away for a while, been back now a couple of months or so.
Just got standings high enough for L3 missions. I have a Myrmidon, a Rupture, a Thrasher and a Mammoth (and a couple of hundred million spare isk).
my skills are here http://eveboard.com/pilot/Gravitas_Moque
What ship & fit should I be looking into next? Ideally something that would do both L3 & L4 missions.
Did a L3 a couple of nights ago and I had to warp my Myrm out a couple of times for repairs (which cost more than the mission rewards) :(
I do a bit of PI on the side to fund an alt for small hull PvP in low-sec, but figure higher level missions will bring in some more cash to keep my PvP guy in hulls (I do seem to get through them fairly quickly )
Not sure whether to go for the ubiquitous Drake, a Hurricane or save a tad more cash and move into a BS?
Any and all advice much appreciated,
thanks |

I'd suggest fitting an armour repairer!

Your skills are a bit spread out, hard to say for sure. Myrm's should have zero problem running L3 missions, dual rep + specific resists with an AB and cap rechargers will suit you ok. Way I see it you have two options, get T2 sentry drones and go for a Dominix or add Large Projectiles and Cruise Missles and try for a Typhoon to get started. |

I'd skip the Typhoon and go for a Maelstrom for battleships. At least to start with. The Typhoon's a three way weapon split, rather than the one and a half (guns and some small drones) for the Mael.
Use a Cane for L3s. You're already skilled up for it. It'll take a passive shield tank which should pretty much walk an L3.
While the Mael can do them, it's not so suited for taking out the smaller targets, like any battleship. Longer lock times, and poorer tracking. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Blueprint calculator and other 'useful' utilities. |

You would probably be less stressed and annoyed to just have a L3 ship and a L4 ship.
A passive shield Hurricane or an Active Shield Afterburner fit Cyclone for level 3 missions for a cheap solution. Although you need to split the weapons more the Cyclone I find them a lot more fun to fly than the passive shield Hurricanes from a speed standpoint as well as having standard missiles to keep the small stuff at bay.
For Level 4 missions I would say move for a Maelstrom as well since you have decent shield skills and you can pop things at range. You light drones to keep the small stuff off you.
Once you have money look in to training T3 cruisers or train up for a Machariel which can do both types fairly well (although the DPS on the T3 is usually a bit low for getting L4s done quickly).
Also, if you salvage your missions, train up and use a Noctis to bring in the loot a lot faster (no Ore Industrial skill shown on the skill sheet) Why are my neocom icons so tiny? Oh, you can widen and narrow the bar. Cool.-á |

thanks guys, much appreciated.
Looks like I'm shopping for a hurricane tonight. I'll see how I get on with that and my L3s - going to be a while until I can run L4s anyway, so will look at a Maelstrom then (can't have too many ships, right?).
thanks

Not sure if the Cane tanks better than the Myrmidon, which receives a nice bonus to armor rep amount, sporting one of the best active tanks in game.

Lv3 for the cane. Shield and speed tank it, and save up for a Maelstrom for lv4s.
The Mael is a great beginner ship for lv4s. Shield tank like the cane, eight guns for a good punch. Slow as molasses, though. |

Would recommend you post your Myrmidon fit and what happened. Myrmidon should have absolutely no problems tanking a level 3 mission. |
