I think a new feature that should be in the game is the ability to choose to come out of warp 25km or 50km further back than you would normaly. So if you come out of warp around 20km away from your jumpgate, then you'd be comming out of warp with the new feature at around 55 or 70km. This would add alot of time to get to your destination, but you'd be able to see who was at the stargate, so you'd be out of targeting range and could warp away. This could also help guys who have a big "Max Targeting" range.

Yah, more I think of it, the better the idea.

I like the idea as well but feel it should be more beneficial than that by allowing the setting of distance from destination to be adjusted based off the security of the zone so you can tell the system that in a 1.0 zone you want as close as you can but in a 0.6 zone you want a little further away and in a 0.4 zone you want as far away as you can.

Aye, good idea. As for a slow indy, jump in close if you like - but take an escort.
This is a good idea for a TON of reasons, (but make the variable range between 150km and 20km). Large battle fleets need space to form up and manouver into position. Jumping in at 20km makes long range loadouts pointless and doesn't allow time for sensible tactics.

Some players are already doing this by mapping out a route with Bookmarks that take them away from the jump points, or place them on the jump point.
Once they have the Bookmarks they can then following them. It does mean that auto pilot can't be used, but it makes the route a lot safer.

Hmmm, look at my first post date, and Tomb is just now noticing this feature and calling it cool... I guess I'm just ahead of my time.
