Ok I try to log in this afternoon when I get home and all I get is black screen. I have not changed anything from when I was playing a few hours ago but it does not matter what account I use or what character I try I only get a dang black screen. What gives with the server????

Me too - was playing & then got stuck at a jump gate, logged out & then couldn't get back in again .... !!!

Same again for me - exactly the same as last night. My char jumped but I stayed looking at the gate I just jumped through. After waiting for a while I tried to re-log & now I'm stuck at the 'activating char' screen. 
Not a good advertisement to all the new players this is it. I am currently paying for a game I cannot play. Once is bad enough but acceptable but the same problem the following night is not ... !!!

 Same here, ship jumped and left me on the wrong side without my ship, left game and now stuck halfway through activating character.
There is another thread with about 50 others with the same prob and no resolve!

Just heard they're rebooting the server in 20mins

Yeah they are rebooting - I have a 2nd account & that char is docked & won't be moving until after the reboot - Last night I had both chars stuck & further problems following the reboot. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen again.

Ahhh well, no longer stuck at activating my char, just at entering space & have been for the last 10 minutes ....... good stuff ...

my character doesnt eben load in the character selection page ???????????????????????//
