Rigs: 2x Auxilary Nano Pump 1x Nanobot Accelerator
or....
Low: 2x Large Armor Repairer II 2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane 1x Damage Control 2x 1600mm Rolled Tungsten Plate
Rigs: 2x Auxilary Nano Pump 1x Trimark Armor Pump
or...
Lows: 2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1x Damage Control II and as many 1600mm Rolled Tungstens you can fit Rigs: 3x Trimark Armor Pump
To be honest, i prefere the middle one in most situations because 20k armor with dual rep buys you more time to survive. But then you as well might go for plates+trimarks only...if you dont have to worry about gateguns ofc.
Upper setup is more for gatecamping overal/baiting single players, works like a charm. But if you have to tank multiple ships at once, the lower setup buys you much more time (because by the time your dual reps made one run, you'll probably be dead by then...
And, if you know you gonna get engaged by amarr ships, go DEFINATELY with the lower/middle one
So yes, depends on what you want to tank with it i guess Nice hamster! - Mindstar Thanks! We wont touch this sig! - Cortes I lied - Cortes LIAR! |

If you added in 5x heavy armor repair drones you might JUST have some sort of amazing flying hunk of nigh invulnerable poo. :P
Course if you have the heavy armor maintenance bots I'm not sure what you can do other than look ugly and take a beating forever. Maybe you can wedge some sort of firepower or something in those high slots (NoS/Neut maybe?)

Best tank for PVE or PVP?
For PVP you will want a large hp buffer and decent resists. For PVE you will want good resists and high sustainable hp/seconds repaired.
Decent sustainable "omni" PVE tank:
Armor Explosive Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Large Armor Repairer II Large Armor Repairer II Damage Control II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
[empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Auxiliary Nano Pump I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
For PVP you'd want something like this:
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Large Armor Repairer II Damage Control II
[empty med slot] [empty med slot] [empty med slot] [empty med slot] [empty med slot]
[empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I
Disclaimer: I do not speak for the fanbois. |

Yep, neuts all the way
I use this following setup in fleet/solo alot and i do like it alot (altough, its verrry reliable on those pesky capboosters):
High: 1x Heavy Unstable 2x Medium Neut II 1x Medium Nos II 2x Medium Remote Armor Rep II's
Medium: 2x Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster w/ 800's 1x 100mn Microwarpdrive 1x Stasis Webiier II 1x Warp Disruptor II
Low: 2x 1600mm Rolled Tungsten 2x EANM II 1x Damage Conrtol II 2x Large Repper II
Rigs: 2x Auxilary Nano Pump's 1x Trimark Armor Pump
Drones: 5x Ogre II 5x Hammerhead II 5x Warrio II 5x Medium Ecm and spare's
Has some capproblems in the end, but takes awhile. With awu 5 you can swap a medium neut for a large one. This domi eats nano's for breakfast and is a pain in the ass for every amarr ship and active tankers. For solo i tend to swap the 2x remote reps and nos for 3x heavy neutron II's. Im seeing less domi's in space since the nos nerf, and i now see why. I sincerely hope the majority of the people in this thread are joking about those tanks, cause otherwise i can see lots of fat, dead, domi's waiting to be KM'd.

All the serious people have posted good setups. So please show us why these Domi's are 'waiting to be KM'd'. (any ship is waiting for it anyway)

They are waiting to be KM'd because they are basically sticking lots of HP's on and throwing drones at people.
imo the domi is the best all out combat BS for pvp - however it has filled numerous roles over the years due to its more than ample slot layour combined with a chucky drone bay with bonuses that make them a pheasible solo weapon.
It has played the EW game with ecm before the nerf, it's played the cap warfare game with nos. Now it seems to be peopeople fitting plates and neuts to try and replicate a nos domi: which is a shame.
When fitting out a ship, the generel rule of thumb is to make a fitting that exploits the bonus it recieves to the fullest. The domi has 3 bonuses, 2 of which are drone based, the other isnt. Go figure. -------

This is total bullsh because a nos domi is ahelluvalot different than a nosdomi: It creates much heavier caprapage againts your enemy while also hurting your own cap, wich the nosdomi wanst at all. Nos IS WAY DIFERENT to play with than neuts...
Besides that, i bet you never tried to use large blasters on a domi Nice hamster! - Mindstar Thanks! We wont touch this sig! - Cortes I lied - Cortes LIAR! |

nope - i use crystals!!1!1!one!!1eleven
in all seriousness, the 'nano domi' was funny. And not very good.
My caldari alt was sitting in a belt in a raven, ratting happily - all the time im well aware there is an 8km/s nano-domi floating around the area, and everyone panics and tries to camp him in.
Long story short, it didn't work, and the domi ended up with 6 heavy nos on me and heavies zipping about everywhere. After a few minutes of killing his limited drone supply, he left. The lesson i learned was simple: Drone boats aren't the i win buttons of eve, and smart piloting will win against them most of the time.
the 'no guns, only drones' approach is only effective against people who panic when they get into combat. If your experienced, you see that cursor go red, and you get your game face on... which means when i see i domi, i check the model for guns - without them i just pop drones and either bleed them or wait until they get bored and leave. -------

no, thats with an armor tank better than a megathron actually...
Use a bit of imagination - normally i wouldn't mind sharing setups, but this one was as much down to me as it was to an alliance mate who spent a hour testing it with me... and he uses it still, so i'd rather not burst his bubble til he gets a video out -------

Given that the OP was asking about a dominix with 'BEST TANK EVER' that 'doesent need to deal out dmg. just tank', criticising people for providing domi's which specialise in a tank and don't have much firepower seems somewhat silly.

If you are all about the tank but still dont want to be reliant on drones just go for
7 Medium neutrons
Pvp garbage + Duel Cap injectors
Duel reps, 3 hards, EANM and suitcase
Best tank on the ship but still with some dps on the side, sustainability is an issue but hey, who wants to live gor ever?

That nano domi didn't have the proper "Iwin" setup.
If he would have had 2-3 damps (pre nerf o'course), + sentry drones... Tell me then oh enlightened one what you could have possibly done. Sit the sentry drones at about 30-40km, orbit at around 20km. You can't target him, your FoF's usualy go after the closest target, meaning his drones are safe.... one cap-dry, dead raven that didn't get a single lock and probably not even a single point of damage to the domi or its drones.
