Welcome to the game. Im here for 6 weeks now and I've been doing the same thing. I'm shooting all the rats in the belts where I'm mining. I soon found out that installing a salvager and salvaging them makes a good pile of extra ISK. (Sometimes close to a million for five or six of them. Of course I'm also mining with a Retriever. Before that I used a Frigate with a mining-bonus equipped with two miners and a scout drone. This will make the ship almost defenseless since the drone can handle only a maximum of two rats, but you can also warp out if the shield is down and the armor down to 50%.
It is a good idea to keep a second Frigate fitted for fighting in a nearby station. So you can kill the rats and go back to your mining-job within a few minutes.

Thanks for the list.. you know you can search for an item via the market and then add it to the quick bar, which makes it very fast to find all the things you need to buy next or want to reread the specific info on it.

My bantam is armed with 2 of the highest tech 1 mining lasers, drone 1, and a med secure container. I basically get with 5k of the target..all stop.. plop out the container. Mine until both ship and container are full.
warp to stantion and dump..warp back pick up the container..warp back and dump again. About $70k for dense fel and $66k for condensed..
Not bad for 1.0 space.. the osprey will at least allow me some arms and mine faster. In either event, I will have a contingent with giant barges and reinforcements.

i rly freaked out when i saw you use the $ sign for your cash, i thought you used rl money to get your isk. don't know if you read about that, altough they spam it, it's illegal and against the EULA. CCP actually monitors ISK sellers and when you buy isk from them, they take all that isk away again because you broke the rule. then you broke a role, lost rl money and don't have any gain from it ingame...
(i'm sure you already came across isk salesmen)

nope.. i don't buy $.. besides if you pick the right corp, they will take care of you without having to buy isk for real $.
$ in this game doesnt really matter until you have the training anyways. I just book mark the next skills and start out chipping stone ;)
