Hello everyone,i just had my first day playing Eve and its been fun so far.As i'm coming from E&B it is different on alot of levels.I just did my first two combat agent missions and it was different than i'm used to in E&B.I had to kill one pirate drone for the first one than two at once. But in that one the first time my ship was spinning around to keep up with them.Which was so strange to me.So before i blewup i ran to the gate. The second time i went back and was standing still and wiped the floor with both of them. Why the first time was i spinning like that? And i bought a combat drone how do you use it?I also bought a weapon upgrade and it fit but i got a message about cpu usage that makes me think i can't use it.Its bar in the fitting screen was half red and the others are half green. What does that mean?

I'll do my best..
1. The pirate drones I presume you are referring to the tutorial mission which pits you against some easy drones. The only reason I can think for you spinning around and not landing many hits was because you tried to 'Approach' the drone while in combat. This will spin you around because the drone is spinning around you.
2. The weapon upgrade you probably can't use if it won't let you fit it. On the fitting screen you get a CPU and Powerload rating below all the fitted modules. It will say something like 10/30 or 20/25 or something. If you try do a 'show info' on the module, and click on 'fitting' then you'll get a fitting requirements which tells you how much CPU and Powergrid the modules required to activate. If it requires 25CPU and you only have 20CPU left then you'll get the little red bar. Try swapping out modules until you find a loadout you like. Remember certain modules will ALWAYS be too big to fit on small ships. These are destined for cruisers and battleships. You generally won't come across these on your first days so don't worry about that too much. Convo me if you see me in game if you need any more help. That goes for any other new starters who happen across this post.

Quote: And i bought a combat drone how do you use it?
Before you can use drones, you need to load them into your drone bay. When you're docked in a station, open up your drone bay by right clicking on your ship and selecting "open drone bay". Drag the drone from your hanger or cargo bay into the drone bay window.
To use a drone, open up the bay while in space and right click on the drone. Select the launch option - the drone should appear next to your ship in space, and a new window will appear showing how healthy it is (the status window). To make the drone attack someone, simply target your victim in the usual manner, and the right click on the drones entry on the status window and select the attack option.
Before you can use drones in combat though, you need the following:
Drones skill - allows you to control one drone per level Scout Drones skill - adds to the control range of drones, and is a prerequisite for using small and medium combat drones. A drone bay large enough to hold the drone - some ships have either no bay or a very small bay.
Hope this helps!

Edited by: Robskiwarrior on 23/03/2004 17:30:04 always a good tip is when in the market, click the info buttom to give you details about the product. then click the skills tab to see wht you need to use it. Green = skills you have, red = those you dont... Obviously you will need all skills listed to use the item.
edit: P.S. Welcome to EvE, once you get off the ground you will love it. :D

One funny thing I found on that easy one-drone mission is that if I orbited the drone at .5k I hardly hit him at all, but if I changed that to 1k then I was nailing him with almost every shot!

Character pics usually show up within a day or two of your first post
and if you right click on a gun while it is equiped to your ship and select show info it shows you the best range to shoot the gun at, optimal range. It also has another range value which is fall off, which baisically you add to the optimal for 'max range' or subtract for 'minimum' (you can shoot below opt-falloff or above opt+falloff, but it isnt very effective). Your optimal is propably around 1km, which would be why you hit better there :)
