Module Icon Recognition û Petition
Overview After playing EVE online for over 1 year, I can now say I can fly almost every T2 Ship for my role in my race. This includes Battleships fitted entirely with T2 Equipment is a standard fitting for me now. Your fitting screen looks impressive when you open it to see all of the modules on your current ship are titled ôIIö. Equally impressive is when you destroy a ship and you see that notorious yellow tag in that top left hand corner of the item icon. This makes me disappointed when you have spent 1 Billion ISK on a Officer or Dead space module, and it looks like a T1 Item.
What I propose is that all modules for ship equipment enter the æModule Define SystemÆ. The system is based on colour category organisation where every major class of technology is given a colour, and all modules within the category have a tag similar to T2 Items. My example is based from yellow to red, making yellow being the least rare superior technology, and red being the most rare superior technology. You can see what I mean in my example below: -
Module Define System
Although this feature would not have a huge impact on game play, I believe it will add to the aesthetics of the game, and make the Officer, Deadspace and rare items easier to define. No more stories of noobs trashing a æCentus X-type Small Shield boosterÆ because it couldnÆt be sold on the market.
Please can you leave your thoughts and sign if you agree with this idea

It depends : some officer's are higher, some deadspace are lower, the C-types are lower than most officers...
Makes me thing about this :
COSMOS items! Listing them with T1 is just not right. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

Give this concept some serious thought guys at CCP its simple fairly easy to implement yet makes sorting through stuff in hangers immensely easier. Sig removed as it lacks EVE-related content. Mail [email protected] if you have questions. -Hango

I like the idea, but what difference is there between Deadspace Module and Officer Module? They look the same. Hopefully it's not only color because many of us are colorblind.

this is a really good idea. its a nice, noticable change, and the only modification to the software is an edit of some static pictures. no code change at all. and for the colorblind comment earlier, notice that theres a D in the deadspace marker and an O in the officer marker.

/signed, this won't take the artist a day to kick out some nice icons and it will make the game more playable for everyone.
Also need them on Hardwirings, to indicate the level. Heck you could have a whole rainbow of identifiers for normal named stuff.
Really they could do a lot with ricing up the icon-art for a lot of the "good" gear but that would take more time than some simple tabs.

Deadspace and officer modules have the exact same stats for the same meta level... Sooo, it's not the most important to differenciate.
So, yes, colors are not the answer to everything as eve may have between 5 and 10% of colorblind people because of the simple statistical appearance of colorblind people and the fact the playerbase is made of many guys and few gals (but there are some...).
A larger icon with a larger and more contrasted (in terms of brightness, so whatever color you don't see, the brightness will be different, and I don't know too much how colorblindness works, if someone can't read the stuff because of colors, just say it) letter on it could be better for colorblind and everyone because everyone can't have eyes good as mine. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !
