Is it possible to successfully PvP (destroy) a freighter in Hi Sec? They have well over 100,000 HP, so I assume it would involve a large number of battleships? Any video links?
What would have to be in the hold to make this economically worthwhile?

Yes, it's possible. There's countless 'how do i do it' and 'zomg someone killed my freighter' threads about it.
The only thing hat has to be in the hold for it to be worthwhile is cargo worth more than the cost of the ships lost in trying to kill it. Add on to that the percentage of goods lost during the freighter blowing up.

So... Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what ships would be needed? Are we talking 3 BS or 30 BS?

i dont know the exact number but its more like 30.
its easier in 0.5 systems than in 0.6-1.0

Didn't outbreak do it to a bob freighter in high sec with a bunch of domi's a long time ago?

Im planning to get Providence as my main freighter, to think about it. Is a 30 days skill training period, over 1billion isk investment with skillbooks and the ship base. And might require up to another 500m isk for merchandise before able to make big bucks. All that hard work ends up high chance to get looted.
Worth it? I'll go for it.

Assuming 14 Domis, each costs around 10 mil to replace, not including modules for approx another 10 mil and drones(which can be reused) for another 2 mil per unit, rounds up to 288 mil in total replace cost, assuming 50% drop rate that's a minimum of 566 mil for each attackt o be worth it, factoring in opponent loss and general desire for grief... You could carry worthless kontraband and be killed.

depends what you are hauling.. if your hauling trit worth 500m.. then a idiot will only try and kill you... unless you have ****ed off someone really bad :P
