Originally by: Dreagon Scarr Worked on it for about 5 minutes the way it was fixed for me is going into the EVE folder, finding the "bin" folder and double clicking on RedistD3DXOnly.exe. Hope this helps some of you out.
I know that installing RedistD3DXOnly.exe would help but that's not the problem here. The problem is not being able to install anything without admin login. Neither installing nor copying anything to win\sys32 is possible here. We are trying to find out a workaround for this or a fix which would disable the need to install anything. DirectX 9c IS installed on this machine but for some mysterious reason EVE does a check on it anyway and wants to proceed with RedistD3DXOnly.exe :-(

And nobody at CCP cares for it. At least no response to my petition for 17 days in a row now.

Lol well, i was playing eve perfectly fine, log off go have lunch, go to start eve.... and it just loads up the launch picture and then sits in my application bar at the bottom. I've tried new dx updates, tried the manually putting the redist d3dx whatever in the system 32 folder and it doesn't work.
so i'm a bit at a loss on what to do next.....

Thus far we've only received one bug report with anything useful in it about this issue.
We are working on a fix, and will deploy it as soon as it is ready and tested; however you can help speed things along by submitting a bug report yourself or asking anyone else you know of that's experiencing this issue to submit a bug report as well.
Please be sure to include both DxDiag.txt and a logserver file of this issue in the bug report. ____________________________ I break things.

OK, a couple of months and a lended laptop later on the time line, the issue seems to be identified and solved by the DEVs. The solution to it is announced by one of the GMs handling the connected petitions to get seeded with the next patch.
So far, so good.
BUT: the very same GMs are still denying the right of the afflicted characters to ask for compensation on the matter.
I know the EULA and reimbursement policy, which does not cover the issue we ran into here. So all I can ask for, is: CCP - make an exception for this one or extend the policy to reasonable non-server-side problems!
In the end, it all breaks down to CCP being an adult game developer, which handles reasonable problems of it's customers in a caring and understanding way.
It would be nice to get some general answers here from some CCP staff, who are not bound to odd EULA and policy terms, like the GMs working on the petitions seem to be.
