My question is if the number of runs on the BPC's used for invention really matters, or do you always get a singlerun copy of a tech2 ship?

As I understand it, you always have to use a maximum run bpc, otherwise you will be unable to use that bpc in an invention job.

False statment.
Max runs are only used to get that 1 extra run when you use decryptors in the invention process. If not you just get the decryptors run bonus.

If you use a decryptor that gives bonus runs you can use a single run BPC.
+1 runs would give 1 run instead of 2
+4 gives 4 runs instead of 5
+9 gives 9 runs instead of 10
The +9 runs are at suck a poor ME its hard to make a proffit from building them at the moment, unless you have a few moons to mine.

If you use a decryptor with bonus runs, then using a max run BPC will get you 1 more run (i.e. 5 runs with a +4 runs decryptor). If you aren't using a bonus runs decryptor, then you gain nothing from using max runs ship BPCs (its another story with mod BPCs).

(Sorry to hijack) If you cant make a profit inventing with the +9 decryptor, having your own moon mins doesnt change that. The profit is further up the chain, and thus you could make just as much money selling those items and NOT inventing.
