So your reason that the Omen isn't good is because it isn't a Zealot? Could you be a little more clear, and maybe do some coloring/shading and darkening the text next time please? --

I did this between CS:S rounds yesterday . It isnt supposed to be accurate, good nor beatiful. If you want real criticisms about omen then it¦s hard to fit and lacks something to compete with other same tier ships.

Edited by: Cpt Branko on 17/01/2008 19:38:23 I will never really primary a Zealot, but if ewar ships or juicy T2 targets or really high-damage ships aren't around, I will have gank it (or let someone gank it) if in position to do so, they pop fast and basically have more DPS to tank ratio then more serious combat cruisers.
A Zealot will always be shot before the Maller essentially. ;)
Think about DPS versus tank.
Would never really primary a Drake unless it's using HAMs. We've won fights we should never have won because people primaried our Drake Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

I would suggest that Arbitrators, while you couldn't say they aren't EVER primaried, rarely are, because people have a tendency to overlook tracking disruptors, because they don't break a target lock. However, when you consider that some of the real damage dealers of the game (i.e. Tempest, Megathron, Apocalypse) largely or exclusively use turrets, tracking disruptors actually become really damn scary. When you think about it, tracking disruptors put any serious DPS attempt of any Amarr or Minmatar ship utterly out of commission, and as long as you're not fighting a Dominix, they screw Gallente pretty hard as well.
For a ship that REALLY never gets primaried, try the Bellicose. This is because target painters are kind of an afterthought in PvP - the ONLY ships that could theoretically effectively use them are ones that want to quickly warpscramble quick-moving objects (i.e. pods or interceptors) and make sure other, larger craft are able to lock them quickly, so we're talking the Vigil or the Hyena here, but the problem is that they don't have the speed to catch interceptors. Bellicoses don't lock very fast compared to the smaller ships and they have an afformentioned lack of battlefield utility so they would almost definetely be passed up in favour of something more dangerous, like a Blackbird. Of course, that changes in a short second when you get to the T2 variants of the Bellicose, however.
And let's face it, if people are stupid enough to bring Bantams into combat, I wouldn't primary them. Or maybe I might, just to punish him for making such an abhorently poor choice of combat ship.
On a tangiental subject, what are your thoughts on bringing assault frigates into serious PvP combat? My opinion is that they're mostly for lowsec ganking of lightweight targets such as frigates, barges and badly-fitted cruisers, and don't really have a role in serious fleet combat, but I'm open to suggestion. ----- "I am prepared to meet my maker; whether my maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter." |

TDs aren't that effective on Minmatar as you may think. They do screw up tracking a bit, but transversal control is preety easy. Still, Arbitrators do drop your DPS somewhat and at the same time deliver a OK amount of DPS, plus could potentially deploy ECM drones.
If there are no obvious primaries (ECM boats, high dps paperboats like SBs, etc etc) I *will* kill a Arbitrator among the first targets in a small engagement. Droneships are bad for small ships in your gang and reducing your DPS is not nice, plus they could be fitting other EWAR in their mids.

In a fight involving torp ravens, bellicose is among the first ships to explode, after ECM ships. It boosts torp damage very significantly. This is all-important for any usage of T2 high damage torps. Missile explosion radius? Bellicoses solve the problem.

In small gang combat, they can be OK as heavier tacklers that do some DPS, but I do not like using them too much, because they're expensive compared to T1 frigs and don't do that much better in the end. They can be very useful if you need one to zoom around the battlefield and pop te enemy's smaller ships or more paper-thin cruisers, since they rarely get primaried. Sig removed, inappropriate link. Tracking disruptors are the most effective when aimed at a ship that's targeting something two size classes down. I had a TD instead of a web on my ratting Vaga setup and never took any decent hits from whatever battleship it was aimed at. Chaining 1.8 mil spawns indefinitely is devoid of noteworthy challenge.
But if a battleship is shooting another battleship a TD won't make as big of a difference, especially if the other battleship isn't moving, as it may not be during a large fleet battle (due to lag or player apathy.)
Any more to the point, I liked the OP's comic. The criticism about signature radius, sluggish maneuvering, and crappy engine output could really be made about any Caldari ship of course, but the Moa's weapon bonus is particularly bad.

Scorpions, blackbirds, interdictors and logistics ships are the least likely to be primaried.
SRSLY though, if you name starts at the beginning or end of the alphabet, you're likely to get primaried pretty soon in a fleet battle ;-)
