What happens, if I cancel a pending job in my research-pos?
Does the slot get blocked for the research-time of the "pending job"? Like when you cancel an active research?
Or is it just cancelled without any side-effects?

you get your BP back, any materials are lost (minerals, data sheets, items, whatever) and the slot is tied up for the remainder of the job time, applies to factory or lab slots, so you cant cancel a job to put somethign else in that slot

Thanks for your reply.
So you say: Cancelling a pending job is absolutely the same as cancelling a running job.
Too sad.
Any more yay or nay about this?

Edited by: Bambi on 18/01/2008 14:21:41 He speaks the truth. Once you have clicked OK to queue a job cancelling it will only return the BP, you lose the slot for the time it would have taken for the job and your materials.
Yet more sig shrinkage???

I saw this on the login tip o the day in the last week or so. I had to LMAO. I thought this was some sort of bug but evidently it is a feature. I can't really wrap my head around the logic of making it run like this. Did the queuing system presented some sort of programming nightmare that was worked around instead of dealt with?

The reason for this is that nobody can tie up slots for profit purposes. Someone would put say shuttle bpo into research and then try to sell the research time to someone else for higher price. Or reserve research slot with one bpo and then change it to another at later time.

Its a pity that canceled jobs also ties up POS slots too.

If you cancel the job the queue slot stays active. However, if you unanchor the pos module it will reset the slots. Previously you couldn't do that but sometime in the last several months that changed.

Yep - people used to put junk BPOs in as many slots as possible, and then offer to cancel the jobs in return for isk so that other people could actually use them. This was taken to extremes with the ore compression BPOs that cost almost nothing and had a placeholder 11-year ME research time (I think there's an ME slot in Hogimo that's going to be filled up for quite a while as a result of this )
If you cancel a job taking place at a POS, you have the option of offlining & unanchoring the structure it was started at, hauling it to a station/outpost, repackaging it and then redeploying it. This takes ages and will cause any other jobs also in progress at that structure to be cancelled (everything not consumed in the job pops out into your hangar when you repackage the structure).
