Hello all.
New to the game pretty much so not sure of the game mechanics but here goes....
Had a mission from Caldari Navy and had to shoot up some Mercenarys. Done the job and docked, checked my log for standings and discovered i had a nasty hit against Caldari state ( 0.06 ) after i completed it.
Is this normal or a bug? Seems odd to get Lv1 missions that give you bad faction hits against youre own side .

Did you check the transaction log for your Caldari Navy standing? Perhaps there was something else that cost you faction. Mercenaries may fly Caldari ships, but it would be odd indeed for you to get a mission vs Caldari from Caldari Navy.

Ya. Checked my log. No hits against the Navy for the mission.
Caldari State minus was as follows. " Minus faction for destroying Caldari states mercenary rookie "
What gets me though is it was part of the mission. Guy was red and firing at me.

mission was against mordus headhunter - i'm assuming here at least
Mordus is very common in gallente space - I usually end up killing them at least once every 20 or so missions. However, if you look up their standings, you'll see that their liked by the caldari, so when you kill them, the caldari state starts disliking you some. Why a caldari agent from caldari navy would have you shooting them though, i don't know. I would ask for some help in the help chat, and possibly consider making a post in game development, or maybe make a petition asking CCP if this is supposed to be normal for caldari state missions. Till then though, if any mission sends you against mordus headhunters, just don't accept it.

There is a similar mission in Gallente space, (Quaffe one I think): kill the target ship, get the mission item and get 0.8% standing loss.
Petition it.

I recall it was the Quaffe one. Something to do with getting a recipe i belive. Pair of Caldari dogtags on him which i thought was odd at the time.

The mission in question is Soft Drink Wars. You cannot complete it without killing a NPC which gives you -0.8 standing loss. I did it three times before I figured that out.
What is interesting though is that my friend who is of Minmatar race and is working for Caldari coorporation losses no standing for any of the faction (at least that what he said).
Just reject the mission until they fix it (I assume it is a bug).
