Edited by: DJ FunkyBacon on 19/01/2008 15:53:44 Destroyers are PVP ships too. No, really!
"Those who are about to die, we salute you."
When: Thursday, January 17th. 1900 Eve Time Where: To Be determined I will update loocation once we know where it is.
What: This week, it's all about destroyers. At first I was thinking we would swing up and visit Goonswarm, but people are telling me they have traded in their t1 frigate blobs for titans, so I'm open to suggestions. We'll have a definitive meeting system here by Tuesday though, until then I'm open to suggestions.
If you can't fly a destroyer, any Frigate will do. T1 or t2 doesn't matter.
BRING EWAR. Webs and scrams are needed.
We'll begin forming the fleet at 1800. This is a suicide mission, so plan to die a horrible death somewhere out in 0.0. I recommend getting your ship nearby a day or more early.
Bring Friends!
Prizes will be offered to the people who score KBs on anything we kill, based on the value of the kill. This week I will be giving out DOUBLE BOUNTIES
This event will be covered LIVE on Eve-Radio.
If you ask anyone who comes on these suicide rides, we have a TON of fun (last week's lag fest being the only exception). Fleets typically range from 40-50 pilots and you'll be cheered on by hundreds in the in game channel, Eve Radio. So leave your expensive implants at home and come on down to join the fun!
Lastly, we are aware there are some big alliances out there who love to come crush us, but seriously, you won't need your big cap fleets this week, I promise... you won't need HACs or battleships either... in fact, if you come at us with anything bigger than t1 cruisers you should feel ashamed for needing so much firepower to defeat us.
You also won't need bubbles... we...don't....run. Well, unless you're going to snipe at us from 150k.

And for those who might have missed it above. We need suggestions on a starting system this week. Preferably someplace where our 0.0 entry won't be as predictable as it was with Gamis. |

Might I suggest we:
a) Avoid teh blobs. Go somewhere unexpected to avoid these major "slaughter teh newbs!" camps. Though on the other hand.. if we could tell the interdiction guys where to meet us.. they always send a nicely sized band to face us
b) Get a TS or vent server sorted. We used it one week, and for those who used it, it added a load to the fun.
And as much as it upsets me, not being able to bring my Lollicose.. I have a dessie setup already sorted

I had a lot of fun last week even though we got wiped out in that big blob. My corp mate and myself will be joining again.
Now I just have to figure out a nice setup for my Catalyst.

Yrmori - as there are about three pipes into 0.0 space and this will help to throw off the spys. also is a T2 frigate going to be frowned upon? as this is not a destroyer. will it still been in entitled to the same rewards?
and I hope you do not have upload difficulties this time DJ FB (DJ-Laice was keeping me informed in real time on eve-voice )
oh and good hunting everybody I will be there

Same problem here, will get home just a few minutes before the event is sheduled to start.
Last I heard Funkybacon was still having some connection problems this Tuesday. Hopefully it will be resolved by tomorrow.

Hey guys, I'm pushing this back 1 week. I'm still having network issues, nothing that will prevent me from playing the game, in fact it seems to be bunking up somewhere en route to the ER broadcast server. I'm working with ER and my ISP to try and figure out what the issue is, but I don't think it's going to be resolved by tomorrow.
I'll take the time to look into the system that was posted above, and if I am able to broadcast tomorrow, we'll take the time to plan out our next few ops.
fixing the title to reflect the new date now.

Sorry, updated the post as well to match the title.
I've been having an issue for the last week and a half with uploading to certain parts of europe, which is what's making the broadcasts wonky. For example, I can connect to one part of the city our broadcast servers are on uploading nearly a meg, while my connection to the actual broadcast server is 1/10th the speed.
Working diligently to fix the problem though, so stay tuned.

Updated the starting system based on Tim's advice.
Even if i am unable to broadcast this week, we'll still do the fleet. I'll try to get a DJ on who will participate if it comes down to it.
Also, if this week ends up being another total mothership annihilation fest, we'll see about changing our fight format for next time... with ~50 pilots we could easily just head out to 0.0 together as one, and then have captains pick 1 pilot at a time, create 2 teams and then go at eachother in a relatively fair fight.

Given we'll be in destroyers, the first gang we run into with a few battleships, we're gonna get worked... but I would think if we caught a lone battleship or a few cruisers we MIGHT have a chance. I don't expect we'll be killing much this time, but if we can take someone with us I'll be happy.... then again if we end up with 70+ like last time and the people we're running into aren't expecting us.... you never know what could happen!
I suggest equipping for speed.

And yet again, we come across a gate camp big enough to pwn us... that then gets reinforced by caps. Lolz.
I think this is why I tend to pvp in low sec.

Possitively hilarious. Can't wait for the video!
Highlights: Jump into 0.0, Foundation is gatecamping. We engage primary, he warps off, second primary is called, a Brutix, while the rest of his mates are shooting at us, he does not engage, makes a beeline for the gate, and jumps out just as he goes into structure.
Meanwhile a cyno goes up and they call in the carrier.... for our 35 destroyers. We all died, should have had the brutix, but instead had to settle for a stiletto and a blackbird.

Edited by: P''uck on 01/02/2008 17:19:05 this is just my personal opinion: if we do a suicide fleet, we should go for our "natural prey" first, since this probably will yield the most kills.
ie. if you fly destroyers, you kill small targets first. if you fly bs you start off with cruisers and bc. shoot, what you can deal the most damage to.
and since your fleets have restrictions on ship classes, mostly, you KNOW what the natural prey would be.
amirite? yay nay maybay? discuss ;)
something for the fc to consider...
i have no idea what im talking about, btw.

Of course im not Foundation, idiot. I was watching that gate before Foundation even turned up, and yes the carrier WAS there before you jumped in, it warped off to a planet when you filled skarkon up, but when they saw you were just destroyers it came back to the gate.
The carrier never cynoed in to kill your gang, it was there to kill the previous gang (6 or so bs).

*cough* no we didnt.
after the brutix bugged out there was enough time without any primary called so i popped the stiletto and suddenly i noticed i was very close to a typhoon that had already locked me. you guys were screaming and givin blue flashes all over the place so i decided it was time to gtfo, which i properly did.
but dont worry, even if did stuff right THIS event... you wouldnt wanna hear about the drone swarm. im sure nobody failed as hard as i did back then :)
