HUN Reloaded has the cup.
If HUN Reloaded doesn't get a chance to defend it's cup then it should not be taken and there should be two cups.
however this is a bad idea which is why someone higher up on the food chain needs to eat up/give GM Nova the power to add something REALLY simple to the allaince tournament.
HUN Reloaded should be allowed one fight with the winner of this years tourney.
Meaning 40 teams fight for the chance to fight HUN Reloaded.
you could balance even more by making it best out of three on the final HUN Reloaded vs. winner of the alliance tournament.
But really guys yuou can't not give the champs at least one fight with the winners.
Also as far as parices go because I don't want to spam the forums.
can the winners get T-shirts this year?
or an issie of EON?
or is there some that is stopping real cash worth items form being given out?

I thought bout that myself, but it is a very bad idea if you think about it. It would just set a precedent for the future which is best to be avoided in my opinion.
As i said in the other thread already, i don't see a way through which CCP could REALISTICALLY change the rules retroactively to fit more teams in.
By the way, i dont think that starting new threads about an already over-discussed issue is a good way to make people think about it more :)

Its obvoius to me that alot more people wanted to compete. There is a simple solution for this problem and its simply allowing more teams in. Its no rocket science to alter the schedule or layout of the tournament to allow more teams to compete.

Better question, what if they lose? Do they still have to fight the winners then? What if it was the winners who actually beat them? :)
That idea would add way too many question with no really good answers.
Increasing the entry cap would be the only half viable solution, but that would lead to like 40 extra matches in the group stage.. Too much to handle if you ask me.

Are you serious? Do you see the World Champions receive a free bye to the final during the World Cup? Is one of the participants in the Super Bowl by default last years winner? I support the idea of last years champions receiving a free spot or something, but to actually put them directly in the final? Again I must ask; are you serious?

qualification rounds, who are not broadcasted, just hosted by some devs, some spots that can be gotten by every team, like a qualifiction in a tennis tourney. Should be not much work to organize this, and every allience has a chance to take part in the tourney.

Lets open more threads to get hun, bob and all the other competent pvpers in this tournament, as they are busy pvping they cant read forum and so cant sign up for a tournmanet.
Also all the no names should be banned in general, there is no need for any other entetie then the important ones to compete as most of the no names alliance dont know how to hold a weapon and therefore should mine in empire while watching the elite to pvp on evetv.

So its crappy organization when you didnt manage to sign in your team in time, but 40 other exec and team captains did sort this out, and are now threaten as 2nd class of pvp due not being in bob, ra, goons and whatnot or playing no mayor role in eve war I.
CCP indicated clearly that there is only 40 slots, new rules indicated that you can particpated without a fat wallet, looks more like you overestimated your own importance and underestimated the intrest of the tourney.

theres alot of people on poor teams banging on about peoples lazyness for missing signup time, desperatly happy that they maybe have a chance with alot of the major players not being able to enter

So you rate teams as poor when you have never met those ppl and are juding because they are making fun out of ppl that missed the signup? Some of the real good pvp enteties on live server have themself proven to be not that much of a small scale fighter.
No one has thought that hun would take the cup last year, maybe this years its "empire resarch and mining" because they show the best team and tactics.

I believe that the crux we have hit with the Tournement nowadays is that Eve has alot more players and more alliances and more people who feel they would like to take part. this increases each tournement until we hit a critical point were alot of alliances and teams dont get a chance to compete. This being evident from the last tournement and more so in this one.
Now I can understand the logistics of it, and we have solutions in the real world that cover this very issue. Be they leagues or a knockout or indeed for the World cup - qualifying rounds.
Personaly I'd like to see qualifying rounds - they dont need TV coverage, they dont need huge demands in time (indeed overall it would make for better ongoing content).
I'd also say that anybody who make the final rounds should automaticly get into the next tournement or at least in have less qualifiers, but as a whole it comes down to who is fasionable and in-favour with the dev's at the time in the eye's of alot of people, which is not the spirit of such events.
I apprecieate that at this stage doing qualifiers would be hard to implement - BUT and I say BUT in caps as there is the option to say have a few places for the tournement set aside and get the teams who have not been selected for whatever logic or reason and have them do a mini single frig league/knockout and the top few out fo that get a place in the tournement.
But hey - what would a customer know about fairness

At least the top four from the previous tournie should have been pre-selected for this one and given the chance to NOT enter.
Open up some more slots CCP, it cannot be too difficult surely?

I odn't know why peoplke are turning this into a bob or goons have to be thing.
I'm only talking about the people that have the cup.
think about it it doesn't make sense and it's unfair to that team.
I mean sure my team lost last year but I can still feel for them.
this has nothing to do with corp names, if the most unknown corp ever won THEY should get to be in the next one or at least be the final fight.

That was last years tourny. Its not like it matters really, you dont see people saying that the superbowl,stanley cup, world series, nba finals or any other league champ should have to play last years winner to be the current world champ. If they dont sign up in time its like they didnt make the playoffs in a sport and they are a non factor.

It's because of slip ups like this that makes me wonder how much deep thought goes into organising these tournaments. All major world cups have the winners automatically entered into the next cup (as well as the hosts as previously stated... but who wants to fight CCP?  ).
Why not add some qualification rounds? Obviously the qualifications can't be as big as the tournament itself, but some blitz fights could do (read: minimum rules, fast fights). Hek, even a huge 6 sided fight and the top 2 of each fight goes through. Sure, it takes some organising but if you want to take this tournament seriously that's what you have to do to prevent these kinds of problems.
