(I tried to see if there was already a thread for this, and didn't find one. Please let me know if I missed it.)
I'm using the latest EVE client on Ubuntu 7.10, and from the moment the login screen comes up to in-game, all the text is rendering as white rectangles.
I'm using a notebook with an Intel 945GME "Express Integrated Graphics Controller" video "card" with 256MB of my system RAM devoted to it. (I know it's not the best, and if it never works with it, so be it. I have my main PC--I'd just like to be able to play on the road.) The EVE Online Configuration's System Tests gives me all "Passed", so I have hope.
Thanks for any suggestions or ideas on what to do. -Liam

Damn, I have the same problem and the same chipset :-/ I just posted a topic with my issue. I think you had the same problem that the Microsoft Core Fonts or other packages aren't installed. Normally after the extraction of the eve data package some other installations should start.

Is that chipset supported? Not sure. For the wine Client, those who experience similar issues are usually missing the ariel.ttf, which must be put into the windows\font folder on their drive_c. You might check that.

Yeah, technically that vid chip is not supported. I think. It fits the requirements of the old client--but it's not one of the recommended chipsets. And that's fine, I don't expect it to be. I'm trying to run the Linux native client of EVE, not through Wine. In any case, I do have the font: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/arial.ttf Well, oh well. =) Thanks for the replies. =)

A possibility to get some more informations is to run cedega in debug mode (dont do it to long, the files are getting really huge) and afterwards filter the file for errors or warnings. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Quality Assurance QA Engineering |

Well, the debug was interesting. I let run for only a few seconds with +all, and I got an unreadable 1GB file. I tried just +relay, +seh, +td, and I got a 100MB readable file...except I have no idea what it's saying. Thousands of lines of gibberish. I tried scanning it SOMETHING that would jump out at me as a clue or hint--but it's all Greek to me.

I have the same issue with Unbuntu 7.10 when rendering "Foreign characters" I am currently set as a native US 101 Keyboard install with all Language dictionary/fonts installed.
I am unable to render the Asian, Cyrillic or Arabic character sets.
For me its having the access to the Japanese channel and rendering the character libraries. Roman character sets render fine.
