Hey guys,
was wondering if anyone here is in the Beta of Age of Conan?
from the trailers and all the hype going around this game is going to either own everything else or it will have too many bugs and just fail.
if anyone has any nice input or bad about the game plz say :)
i hope the PvP in this game is fun.

If you'd like to get into the AoC beta, why not sign up? According to CVG they're preparing to go into semi-open beta soon. (ie, you need to apply, but they're allowing loads of people in)
My guess is, you'd stand a decent chance to get in.

I applied but did'nt get in, how ever i have a friend whom has it. And i hate him for it  , anywho.
From what i have heard it shows promise, i have'nt been allowed to try his beta.
Maby i'll have to bribe or something, but he goes on about how fun it is. And if he likes beta i gather he'll go into convulsions over the full version..

I hate to say it because I was (about 9 months ago) really looking forward to this, but it's going to be a disaster 
I'm not in the beta but I've been following development of AoC closely, and there's 2 main things (and about 10,000 smaller things) that will make this the case:
1) It's Funcom. Anyone with any previous experience of Funcom will understand this.
2) Have you seen the huge things that are being changed just 2 months before release? Uh-oh.....
So, don't get your hopes up.
I'd love to be wrong, genuinely, but I predict a maximum of 200k subscribers in the first 3 months, dropping to under 100k after that. 12 months after release it'll have 20-50k subscribers at a guess.

i always though Conan was an odd IP for them to pick up in the first place.
i shouldn't imagine there are that many Conan fans out there (i know one) but at the same time it could be the coolest thing ever.

I'm only in the technical beta. That means you can play for 3h every Thursday. I got the invitation last week and I couldn't make that week's test time, so I'll try it in a few days and see what it's like. Although we only get to try the starting zone and some much later place. Bring on the semi-open beta!

we're not talking about the ******** arnold Schwarzenegger Conan here, we're talking about the original Robert E Howard conan which essentially inspired much of modern fantasy, including Tolkein, Moorcock, Dungeons and dragons, warcraft, and almost any other modern fantasy you could name. R.E.Howard invented the swords and sorcery genre, I just hope funcom lives up to his legacy, otherwise you're going to see alot of ****ed off people.

thats all there is to it. They drove me away from Anarchy Online to EVE. Funcom is running the show with AOC.

Last I heard, AoC was going to be single player until you maxed out your character, and then you'd go online with it, making it an "endgame only" mmo. Is this still the case?

No. But I do believe you can choose to play it on your own until a specific level. You sleep to switch between night and day (read: solo and multi). That's what I saw on some preview at least.

If I remember correctly what was said about AoC on the Anarchy Online forums, the idea was that the equivalent to "noob island" was going to be solo. Once you leave this training period you enter the multiplayer part.
Which I think is a neat idea: I played LOTRO soon after it came out and the noob areas were way too overcrowded, mobs and resource nodes not lasting more than 2 seconds after spawn to a hungry pile of players jumping right on top.
