You might think I'm smoking *****, but here is my situation.
The sound in-game works fine. Sound outside of the game doesn't.
I just rebooted the computer and tried playing some mp3s in itunes but to no avail. I went to youtube to play some videos, and again no sound.
Lo and behold, I open up EVE and I'm greeted with an entourage of audio bliss. What on earth happened?
For the record, I have an ASUS G1S-X1 Laptop with realtek hd audio and vista.

Edited by: Asssassin X on 22/01/2008 18:11:12 I have this EXACT same issue with my Dell laptop running Vista. Glad to see it others are having the issue but sad to see there is no solution. I also noticed that my Vent/TS sound works too, not sure if you have the same issue or not.

I just tested it out, and you're right.
I checked everywhere, looking for some kind of OS layer output control and I can't find it anywhere.
I also realized just how much I hate VISTA, in that it isolates me from control. A simple adjustment turns into a convoluted, and time consuming process.

Edited by: Soujiero on 23/01/2008 18:08:00 Edited by: Soujiero on 23/01/2008 18:07:10 The realtek hd audio drivers are junk. Either that or ASUS is. I too have an ASUS mobo and I've had similar problems. It's intermitant which makes things worse. But you generally have to go into the audio settings and reconfigure your output when it happens.
My answer is to get a sound card and off the ASUS onboard. Problem went away with a simple Sound Blaster.
... oops you're on a laptop... sorry.

USB Soundcard might do it, though...
