So what I want to know are what are your top 5 favourite ships that you fly and why. No massive esseys please, just a quick list and brief reason starting with your favourite. The only rule is you must be able to actually fly that ships in your list so no 3 day old noobs posting that a titan is their favourite because it looks pretty 
For the sake of completeness, here's my list as it currently stands
1) Deimos - Doesn't do much else but damage but woy what a nice amount of pwnage 
2) Drake - The Eve equivelent of a bullet proof vest... What a tank 
3) Ares - Sooooooooo fast... and now with 3 mids... the ultimate tackler
4) Raven - I wouldn't rat in anything else
5) Eris - Slated by most but its the fastest. Ideal for getting quickk slingshots or bubble and escape tricks

1. Omen, my first ship bigger than a dessie after months of flying dessies and frigates....
2. Armageddon, haven't flown it yet, but it looks cool, and I'm a sucker for vanity

Hyperion - Tough, lots of damage, imposing looks
Dominix - Bang for your buck
Sacrilege - fun HAC with a turn of speed
Nighthawk - it makes agents give me money. God's own tank
Vexor - Cheap, cheerful and very effective in the right hands
Special mention: Taranis. Its been a while since I flew her, otherwise she'd be in the top 5.

1) Nano-Navy Caracal w/ Faction Fittings - It's only 5-6km/s, but it's fun as hell to surprise somebody in a duel who's got a slower or close ranged ship by orbiting them at 20-23km spewing missiles, or even further if it's a no-warp out duel. (Missiles aren't affected by transversal!) Wouldn't actually take this into real PvP, it's not fast/agile enough for a real nano ship, but it is *fun* and unexpected. It is my favorite, but I rarely actually fly it. It's just an expensive toy.
2) Incursus - It's just fun to fly, pretty fast, and does some crazy damage for a frig if you can get right up in their face.
3) Stiletto - Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast. Sensor boosters, 30km scram range, wee, pod catcher!
4) Rapier - Stealthy and pwns nanoships. 'Nuff said.
5) Avatar - Well, I can't actually fly one, but it's one huge-arse sexy butt plug.

Vagabond - Ultimate, if you dont do a mistake
Hyena - Wow,improved web, improved painting and scramble at 17km with much cap and very fast
Mealstrom - Expensive, but what a nice insta dmg, love it in Missions
Naglfar - Muhaa, very stilish, very deadly, very awesome...

1. Drake. Gank, tank and tackle all in one hugely-flexible, woefully underestimated package.
2. Blackbird. In terms of bang-for-your-buck, the best ship in the game.
3. Falcon. No explanation required.
4. Raven. It's a bit one-dimensional, it's a bastard to fit, but man those torps hurt!
5. Prowler. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

1. Malediction - small, sleek, spiky, fast and violent.
2. Sacrilege - this ship is messed up and should not exist. Fantastic resists, lots of lows and uses HAMs. This was born to be nanoed up.
3. Typhoon - What can it not do? Adaptability is victory in the right hands.
4. Maelstrom - makes mission running so easy. It's all about the gun baby!
5. Rapier - This ship has too many "i"s in the name. Brilliant at executing smaller vessels ro as gang support.

1. Curse - looks awesome, fun to fly, challenging to fly well.
2. Pilgrim - pure cloaking evilness but a shadow of its former self.
3. Sacri - fast with a solid tank, not to bad damage wise.
4. Anathema - Pretty versatile for exploration or recon.
5. Maledictio - it just looks kewl

1. Rokh: Who says you can't use it for missioning? And besides, it looks a hell of a lot better than the Raven.
2. Drake: A tough nut to *****, fairly flexible.
3. Thorax: Very fun ship to fly. Often underestimated in PvP because it's only a T1 ship. Also very cheap to outfit so it's a good throw-away PvP ship. Looks frickin' incredible.
4. Raptor: Best throw-away tackler IMO because of it's price and missile slots for DPS whilst orbiting with the MWD on.
5. Thrasher: Reach out and touch someone.

Scorpion - the best ship at being a pain in the ass out there
Drake - It can rat it can tank AND, if properly fitted it can put out some decent DPS. I've even heard rumors of mystical Nano-HAM-Active Drakes though such a story is clearly fantasy
Kestral - One of the best PvP frigs out there though your survival depends entirely on getting into range or staying out of range.
Punisher - The coolest looking frigate in the game. Also, perhaps the best pure combat frig.
Rokh - It's caldari AND it looks cool?!
Blackbird - Disposable irritation.
I'll second the gallente shuttle also - it's my favorite of all of them.

1. Nighthawk, looks cool and is an awesome missle boat.
2. Raven, the only Caldari BS i Like, and runs missions beautifully
3. Prophecy, good tank, fair amount of damage (although limited in range), and the best looking BC IMHO
4. Harpy. i loved the merlin as a noob, and this a love this t2 version.
5. Moa, its ugly as sin, but i rather like it.

Glad to see some Caldari ships finally make it on this list...
#1: Rokh - Flexible, powerful, tough, pretty - just yummy.
#2: Harpy - Amazing punch/range for a frigate sized ship - lots of tactical options for gangs.
#3: Kitsune - Small, fast, and it jams - me likey.
#4: Manticore - A gang of these with intys and AF make a deadly T2 frig gang.
#5: Raptor - 'Cheap' effective way to tackle a BS without getting into NOS/Neut range, super shuttle going at 13.5 au/s - great tactical flexibility.
Honorable mention goes to Moa - Ugly, underrated ship - excellent gang ship.

#1: Hurricane - Each time I fly it, I wanna play the "Imperial Walk" theme from Star Wars.
#2: Jaguar - Its just a fun tackler!
#3: Cyclone - Looks like something out of Bio-shock/Fallout, crossed with a locomotive, plus has a helluva shield tank too.
#4: Rupture - Just a good, solid Cruiser
#5: Vigil - Cuz someone has to love it.

No. 5 - Ares, for zipping around and not getting caught.
No. 4 - Rupture, but I think Broadsword will replace this one when I finish the skillz. All-round cruiser for Pv-whatever.
No. 3 - Stabber, because a Vagabond is just too LOL overpriced for what it is
No. 2 - Maelstrom, for when you just have to stand there and take it
No. 1 - Typhoon. You always get 2/3 the damage of a Dominix, plus can easily choose to do two out of these three things: 2/3 the damage of a Raven, 1/2 the damage of a Maelstrom, or a tank of OMGDIEDIEDIEALREADY. And that's just the standard fit.

1: Maelstrom. Looks and awesome tank with decent gank. Just wish I could throw t2 larges on it! (Skill issue, not fitting)
2: Hurricane. Looks mostly, since I allllmost lost it once and that freaked me out. Now it's my safe salvage ship.
3: Jaguar. Feels like a frigate but with a tank that rivals a cruiser.
4: Drake. Half-decent DPS with Heavies and a lazymans passive tank. Also reminds me of a lego or something meant to connect to something farrrr bigger with that spar between the wings.
5: Mammoth. Just for the size. "Hey, that's a Maelstrom/Megathron/Geddon that's flying out with me... Holy crap I'm BIGGER than they are!"
Can't fly them yet, but I have plans for a Malediction/Abaddon/Paladin.

1) Falcon: scout + permajamdeath = win.
2) Heretic: "Notify: You are unable to warp due to the warp disruption field. Notify: Your pod is unable to warp due to the warp disruption field. Please say goodbye to your implants".
3) Vulture: shield gang mods + max skills + mindlink = very happy gang. Fleet sniper ranges + cruiser tracking = very unhappy frigates.
4) Fully Serpentis-fitted Vigilant, pre-Trinity: this ship was pure sex to fly, until a combination of tier-2 battlecruisers, dying solo piracy, hitpoint boosts, and an ugly Trinity model forced her into retirement. You have not known fun in EVE until you hang on just a little bit longer as your expensive faction cruiser's structure slips away... and walk away with the killmail.
5) Pilgrim, pre-nos-nerf: RIP most fun solo pwnmobile ever.

2) Kitsune >> My newest fave, for the price; the jamming ability of this ship is insane
3) Manticore >> SB gangs have to be one of the most fun things in EVE imho

What? Non-Caldari ships? But I thought Trinity made it "Caldari Online"? 
1) Drake: Flexible, 600 "any" dps.
2) Rook: Cheaper, better Falcon for friendly system defense
3) Falcon: Better Rook for roaming gangs, scouting
4) Cerb: Faster, longer ranged Drake
5) Raven: Easy to fit DPS monster
I'm a little biased though. I only fly Caldari ships.

1) Ishtar: It's downright amazing to see the many ways one can fit the thing for tasks such as PVP and L4 missions. Try it. It's great. Also, I like drones a lot ...
2) Vexor: Cheap cruiser, can tank and gank with aplomb ...
3) Ares: Quick tackler, doesn't need rigs to go super-quick so I can haul a ton of them around ...
4) Dominix: Drones, and the best bang for your buck as far as battleships are concerned. I don't like flying battleships much, so I use my HAC, but the Dominix is the go-to one for me ... especially after the Myrmidon nerf, I see little reason to fly the battlecruisers when this thing is so readily available.
5) Viator/Occator: Haul stuff fast or with a buffer ... what else can I say?

2. Scorpion - always called primary 'enuf said
3. Caracal - my first bigger ship - lots of good memories
4. Kestrel - lots of fire power for such a ship and the satysfaction of blowing up interceptors

2. Cyclone - Hella under rated in my opinion, most of my kills have been in a cyclone
3. Tempest - looks cool and has a sweet Alpha strike
4. Fleet Issue Stabber - suprised more people don't fly this beauty
5. Hurricane - would be higher but I always get blown up when I fly one of these, gets primaried much quicker then a cyclone

I love them torp changes. Hitting a painted target with Rage torps and 3 BCU II's in lows is almost orgasmic. Also: Missions.
2. The Scorpion
I'm a sucker for punishment and feel very good about myself when I completely blind targets and imagine the pilots screaming at their screens that they can't do a thing about their impending doom.
3. Purifier
Love it for solo-work.
4. Sentinel

Well I am all Amarr spec so
Armageddon - Looks cool, cheap for its damage output.
Navy Issue Apoc - Because I have a full Amarr Navy fit on it.
Pilgrim - Looks cool fun to fly shadow of what it once was though.
Absolution - Awesome ship with nice looks.
Damnation - Hard as nails tank.

I miss the sexy ships - here is my list ;)
1. Redeemer - faction fitted horror of tank and gank - it is made to kill
2. Dual Repper-Sacrilege - dual repper full tank Sacrilege makes some jaws drop
3. Weighted Sacrilege - let the Javelins fly 60km+, available with 2 faction BCUs - always makes you smile to see Mr wannabee Nano in 50km distance ripped apart by Javelins.
4. Nano Sacrilege - One never knows what a Sacrilege is up to...
5. Helios of Doom - Warrior drones can offer a nice surprise, even to Interceptors.
Sacrilege's versatility makes it so much fun.

Slasher - funniest ship I saw
Harbinger & Prophecy - best looking ships in game imo

I fly only the Drake and Raven. I'm taking a path of a noob Gallente of Vexor tward Myrm.
This thread needs a little glue. An unscientific survey about an unscientific game.
Mostly made me realize I take my ships for granted. The Drake and Raven made quite a few lists but they are love them or hate them ships for sure.

1) Taranis - Decent damage interceptor, looks sharp
2) Myrmidon - Awesome drone boat, flew it for around half my time in this game
3) Celestis - Awesome little T1 cruiser, decent drone damage with DI, 4 sensor damps and some nice t2 guns in highs.
4) Hyperion - Looks awesome, remins me kind of a Japanese Pagoda, but in space.
5) Phatasm - Some races have their sleek golden hulls, others have asymetrical blobs with lots of lights. I have a giant ball of spikes. Eat that!

herron - quick and cheap scout
harpy - best 0.0 ratter ive ever seen and packs a hell of a punch with neutrons
armageddon - lasers armor huge drone bay and bright gols, what else do you want
bellicose - cheap disposable heavy tackler and gang e-war support + makes a fair solo ship
punisher - can tank even a bs for a long time while it uses all of its cap so that you can slowly wear them down
Manticore - Like a ninja, nough said
i could go on and on but i think this is good enough

1) Dominix - way too cheap and *****en tank. LVL 4 solo mission machine.
2) Vexor - easy to get into, easy to fit and with good skills does way more damage than you would expect.
3) Cheetah - Cov ops goodness.
4) Slasher - Fast and dirt cheap.
5) Mammoth - Yes a hauler but I love it so.

1) Sacrilege - Too fun to fly, Nano it? Tank it? Variable damage on an Amarr ship? Late to be primary... Love this ship.
2) Zealot - Someone said they want to be buried in it. I second that. Pure sex.
3) Purifier - Awesome wtf pwnage in the right situation (what I fly mostly now).
4) Malediction - Great tackler and great looks.
5) Heretic - Decent cheap bubbler.

1: Hulk - It's like a federal reserve bank with rockets.
2: Moros - Not particularly useful by itself but you get to say "at that range we won't last long against those star destroyers...".
3: Ishtar - Death, thy name is Ishtar; and it comes with Creodron paint.
4: Armageddon - Like the Moros, it looks cooler then it really is. But it does look very cool.
5: Helios - Would be better if they'd give it one turret but increase its drone bay and bandwidth.

Nano-Mach - free carrier kills
Ishtar - damage of a domi, speed of a nano ship (moderate nano/armour tank/E-War)
Rapier - it gots teh web
Dominix - Its got drones + INSANE tank. Best t1 battleship out there. (nano it for lulz)
Hyena - best tackler in game

2) Blackbird. Makes me feel like a cheap bastard when I'm shutting BSs down left and right for under 6-7M ISK, but that's the fun of it.
3) Drake. Can't say no to that tank.
The Caracal has a special place in my heart, cause I did pretty much everything in it before I got into a Drake. And it eats tacklers.

I preety much exclusively fly Minmatar, what reflects on the list. I do plan to train for a Malediction (already have T2 rockets and everything except Amarr Frig V) at some point, since the ship is pure awesomeness and I hate Minmatar Interceptors.
So, in reverse order (and it's not easy to make up my mind on specific rankings) :
5. Thrasher - I fly it as a cheap AC boat. Very high damage, good speed and agility and OK-ish buffer. Being a T1 destroyer, it gets underestimated a lot and rated worse then a, for example, Jaguar/Wolf. I've trained Destroyers V solely to make it rock harder. Quite cheap for the firepower it provides.
4. Rupture - Exceptionally solid and hard-hitting PvP cruiser. It has a bit of everything; speed/agility, buffer, very good damage. Not very expensive to replace, can stand up to any PvP-fit crusier and then some. I love the look & feel of it.
3. Cyclone - the ship looks a bit strange, but you get to love it after a while. Slightly cheaper to lose then the Hurricane and slightly inferior damage; more suitable for roaming then the Hurricane though. A real workhorse of a ship for small gang combat, I typically rely on shield buffer to carry me through instead of tanking it though.
2. Hurricane - what to say? Excellent damage, quite inexpensive, OK speed/mobility. Extremely powerful ship, but a bit flimsy tank-wise.
1. Rifter - the ultimate cheap and effective all-around pirate ship. Very good for roaming, as you don't have to worry about camps. Will kill a suprisingly wide array of targets with very high skills. Over 226 kills in the Rifter so far
There you go. All ships are actively flown and used in low-sec piracy

1) Thrasher - working on a gank arty thrasher - tis a thing of beauty.
2) Jaguar - I know it has no fleet role but that passive tank just rocks for a frig.
3) Cyclone - Mining director skill ftw, and I can finally perma-active tank it on my mission runner.
4) Mammoth - 28.2k m3 cargo capacity - enough said.
5) Probe - I get more use out of this than you'd imagine. Use it like a shuttle and holds over 400m3.

I didn't have room with just the five ships restriction, but the Probe is pure win of a cargo frigate

I haven't flown too many high end ships yet, but so far:
1- Rifter - I love this ship. Fast, deadly (for a frig) and tough (for a frig). Looks awsome and real fun to fly.
2- Thrasher - Most versatile of low end ships.
3- Mammoth - "My god Wahjoo! What big cargohold you have!"
4- Retreiver - It pays the bills....
5- Minmitar Shuttle - Fast, ultra cheap and much more stylish then a pod. When you just need to get there fast!
If I had 1 more spot, it would have to be the Cyclone. It's like a giant Thrasher on steroids and with drones too!
