buy some post-its, write the names down and stick them on the screen in your drone list.
That's an answer suited in sensibility to the question.

Besides, it's a bit like naming chickens... They're just bound to die at some point and then you've just set yourself up to feel guilty about it.

Actually, this might just be a useful way of getting around not being able to see your drones' health when they're docked. You'd at least be able to remember and identify which of your drones just took a thrashing.

However they might as well just make drone health visible all the time if they're going to change anything.
