Has anyone ever found something in a sector that wasn't marked? Example: You warp to Sector Bla, Moon II and just start flying out into space, 45 minutes later you come to a space station platform. Does that type of stuff exist? Or is everything marked?

...and not all of them are exactly off the beaten path. Indeed many are right under your nose.

Check planets, check moons, check belts, check suns and really get to know the limits of your scanner.
Its an amazing tool that is rarely used to anything near its capabilities.
Oh, and be prepaired to really search. If you go out casually plodding around you're relying on pure, dumb, luck. ' Can work, but systematically crunching through the options is a surer, if less dramatic, way.

Yes there is unmarked stuff. I saw a pirate mining base inside a giant hollowed asteroid, and I think I saw a destroyed ship or something like that. There were a special container and pirates at both locations. Both were unmarked and near a planet or moon. You have to warp to the marked places and look around.
I was so excited about these discoveries that I decided to explore systems, but I only resisted checking all the locations for two systems... it gets boring FAST when you aren't finding anything :)
Speaking of which... they said that agents would start spreading rumors on special locations and such - but when I visited my old agent the only interaction possible was to get a mission, no rumors - anyone can shed any light on this?

So are there Invisible stations?
Like say you warp to a moon and there is a station that dosent show up on the map that you can go into and use? does this exist?

I always been to scared to warp to the sun...is it safe? My natual logic refuses to let me do it :p

It is perfectly safe to warp to the sun. In fact the graphics of the solar corona are quite beautiful. Try it.
I found a couple of unmarked locations (i think) close to my home system.
Perimeter 7 planet, has dust clouds, flotsam, cargo containers, and a few low level pirates.
Planet New Caldari Prime, has a monument, and a dust cloud. Cool looking, but no pirates or anything.
One of the planets in the Passenden system has some stuff around it, but this system is next to Mara, so watch out for m0o

As said indeed, check planets/moons/suns and even stations. Sometimes theres stuff right next to the stations. Your scanner comes in handy there. But some objects are further away then ur scanner can detect (scanner range is 200km in DIAMETER, that means u can only detect what is 100km away from u). So use your eyes too :)
There are things to be found everywhere. Not just in empire space. However, some PotW stories contain clues to certain 'things'.
Also nice to see is the Eve Gate.. or whatever is left of it. Its in the New Eden system. however the road may be guarded and other artifacts can be found in the surrounding systems.

Looks like that might be the remnants of the old wormhole all our ancestors used to come into the EVE world by (Yes I read the story)
Heh its nice to see such details in this game. Heh it actually reminds me of stone henge.
Oh and flying to the sun is just plain fun watching the flares and such is quite spectacular. Ah yes the simple joys of lovely graphics.

Chee: the pics would be only about 10-20% of that size if you turn them into jpg's.
I reccomend IrfanView, a freeware image viewer/converter that can batch convert all the .bmp into .jpg

Since I am not on (had to go back to work), but can answer you here from work I will. If you want a little more detail ask me when I get on tonight.
Exploring the eve world does a couple of things.
1) There are places where bps and rare items can be found.
2) You can find cool landmarks, structures, and other things.
3) You can find hard NPC's to fight and die against.

Well didnt find any girls yet:P
but found something next to a moon, but its way to far to fly to (400.000 Km). have to find a way to get there:P
and found something next to a star. Any1 knows how close u can get to a star before buring up?:P

There are a few *fascinating* places down in Domain, I forget the exact name of the system (which is funny, cause I hunted it alot).
Anyways, the system has a pirate base in this weird, foggish, type asteroid belt. Sansha's juggernaut (50K), and 4 40k pirates spawn there, with a full escort of frigates.
This is all prior to castor, mind your.
Around planets in that same system is the wreckage of ships, with more sansha juggs and frigs guarding each wreckage.
Post castor I've heard that there are no more spawns, but I also hear that it will be fixed.
As far as *prettiness*, that pirate base in the ghost belt is worth a screenie...
Message me in game if you see me, and I'll shoot you the name of the system if I remember it.

How does the scanner work anyway, there is notting about it in the manual, I once did a scan of a system and saw something on it that was called a mysterous rock formation or something and I was pretty happy about it...then I spend more then an hour flying by all the moons and planets but never found anything..
I also did a directional scan in every direction and on all the number settings but notthing showed up on it..so I gave up on exploring the Eve galaxy and am still mining in Empire space...so far for leaving the road.
But anyway, any info or help as how the scanner works would be nice.

try these ( safe when you look out even for frigate's ) Saatuban planet 2 and Piekura planet 7 (nice place's but there are rat's!)
