A custom setting in the Forum Options in your 'Profile Settings' to allow 10, 20, 50 or 100 post per page would be a nice option though instead of just hard-coding 20.

Look at the General Discussion page. 20 posts, but 7 are taken up by stickies and the announcement. 13 posts in GD... they don't stick around all that long. 50 would me more appropriate for the volume the forums historically have.

Tbh, I suspect it's just CCP's optionofobia that is making itself known again.

I really wonder where they picked up this forum program. It runs and feels like some indy attempt at open source programming. Heck they could have used phpbb or anything similar to skin and received a better return on the money spent. |

But giving users options would take effort. Look at it from CCP's perspective: users are clearly using these forums in their current state, so therefore these forums are perfectly fine just the way they are. No need to spend valuable developer resources adding functionality.
But keep in mind that it took the web team 72000 man-hours to reskin YAF and remove all of its security functions. Imagine how much time it would take for them to add functions? |
