Alrighty, I have a question.
When I get destroyed in lowsec, I always target a far off celestial object BEFORE I die. The second my ship starts going out of control, I spam the Warp To button in the top right corner. The second my pod appears, I am already in warp.
It has been my experience that if I do this I warp instantly and it is as such impossible to lock/scram me.
A friend of mine claims to have done exactly that, though, and gotten podded anyway.
What happened? Is it possible to lock/scram you that incredibly fast?

If someone is destroying you with smartbombs (such as a BS loaded with smartbombs), it certainly is possible to be podded as soon as your pod ejects, leaving you saying, "WTF!" in some station... ------------------
Let me show you around. That's my lab table, and this is my workstool. And over there is my intergalactic spaceship. And here's where I keep assorted lengths of wire. |

Most likely there was some delay with the client on his end, so the server did not receive the command to warp his pod out until after the attackers had a chance to lock and kill his pod.

The other possibility (and this is a fairly likely one if smartbombs have been ruled out) is that, even tho he says he did it 'exactly the same', he did something wrong. Of course, he may think he did it right, but in the excitement of seeing your investment become a smoking wreck, it is easy to lose your head and make mistakes. -=^=-

If you don't align your ship first before you spam warp, the lag you create is going to come back and bite your pod.
Simply don't count on warp spamming to save your pod. It works most of the time, not all the time.
