I just downloaded and installed the game with the 10-day trial offer, and it mentioned there would be an official volunteer to walk me through getting started in the game and accustomed to the EVE Universe. Well, I've been in the game a couple of times now, and have a character or two created, but I still don't know the first thing about getting started. I figure I might as well post a request for a walkthrough, or at least some game explanations, here, and hope that either a volunteer or another player responds to help me out.
So, any volunteers out there?

I'm new myself, I have no idea how the walk though works.
But be sure to do the tutorial and the agent newbe missions. Those do a good job at showing the basics of the game, earn a little money for your 1st non-newbe ship, plus a little bonus at the end.
Don't be afraid to ask questions here or in your corp channle.
Best wishes

and you need to petition and wait probably a day or more....
as you see ingame help is the players themselves and the out of game help is also the players.....
you can login to the help channel and count literally 30-50 players a day asking why the tutorial is broken and stops as it has since i started playing three months ago....as old players say its been that way since the game launched

That's odd, I joined a couple days ago (planning on subscribing when my trial is near up) and the tutorial worked just fine for me. So after the tutoria, reading the website, forums, and asking a couple questions, I was pretty much ready for the game. Now if I could just aford a Kestrel. hehe

It has a pretty steep learning curve balthial. Goto www.eve-i.com they have some guids there that will surely help. i would suggest buying some learning skills off the market and train them up to lvl 3-4 asap. Then get your frigate skill lvl up to 3, and your spaceship command up to 3. that will give you plenty of time to get the hang of things.
And ask all the questions you want in corp/help channel :)

Thanks for the responses guys. I've done the Agent Tutorial to completion so far, and it earned me enough to buy the Instant Recall Skill Book; I'm still searching for the General Learning Skill Book though (whatever its real name is). I am wondering how one makes any real amount of ISK in this game though. The agent mission don't seem to pay out all that much, and I'm not exactly sure what I should be investing in first. Right now I'm still in my newbie ship and I bought some extra weapons and shields for it...among other little things I don't have the skills to equip. Anyways, these are questions I'd ask the walkthrough volunteer, but since I can't, anyone care to help me out with answers on here?
I'll get to looking at guilds tommorow.

Edited by: Macayle on 25/03/2004 11:11:07 Hi
Player Support Volunteers are out there meeting as many New Players as possible.
The average meeting can take from 15 minutes to 2 hours long, depending on how many questions, how long you been playing the game, how do I do this, what does this do, etc.
A chat window will appear when the volunteer greets the new player. Many times we find that new players have minimized their chat windows and do not see the incoming chat message.
Player Support is also trying to contact new players using EVEMail when players do not answer their chat messages.
How can you help us..help you. Check your chat windows every so often or your evemail. If you have a question, look here on the forums, the knowledgebase *on the help icon*, or join the ingame Help Channel, or if you are having a problem; send a petition in to us or the gms. Someone will respond as soon as they can.
Player Support personnel are volunteers that also play the game like you do.
How do you know someone is an official volunteer. 1. All polaris/ISD volunteers will have either teal, green, or yellow text. 2. GM's have red text. 3. Dev's and the Community Manager have blue text. 4. Anyone with white text is a player like yourself.
Most of all Thanks for playing EVE.

lol Bubbles
Anyway,
Ask around in Help channel, local channel, corp channel or join Eve Unisversity, new corp specifically setup by players to help n00bs get started.
If you just ask, the playerbase will help, we all were n00b one time, and most still are after two months of playing. _______________________________________________

Trianon,
I'll take you up on that offer if I see you on there tonight. I'd contact you now, but the terminal I'm using the EVE client on right now reminds me of the performance of the old Pentiums...my mouse moves in jumps. :p Anyways, I still need a walkthrough of probably 30% of the remaining basic stuff and most of the complex stuff...let along how to plan for the future.
